Before I get into alien technology, let me tell you how this all came about. I was hanging around PAX in a military suit with my helmet, passing out flyers and inviting people to check us out, kissing babies, fondling people, etc., when I ran into the Breadpig guys, founders of Reddit and purveyors of bacon. We got to talking; they dug what we were doing with Dtoid (and they held long-time Dtoid accounts, no less!). One thing led to another and before you knew it, we all had herpes and were singing. I mean, wait, wrong story, my bad. That's actually how I met Hamza. But I digress. Gaming.Reddit is now Destructoid Reddit. Neat, eh?

So, by coincidence or will of the Gods on this impromptu holiday, I'm happy to unveil reddit.destructoid.com -- a place where our editors and our community can trade links and participate in news discussion even before scoops become a front page editorial. Check out the news on the Reddit blog.

In before 'this sh*t's been done'

Unlike other existing link voting gaming services, we will work towards shaping Dtoid Reddit into a place with less pretense and BS by putting moderators with a functioning sense of humor at the helm. Obviously, your own contributions will also help shape how awesome and useful this service will be.  Help us piss excellence by submitting your links, like, right now. 

Try sharing offbeat gaming culture too, like the epic 4chan advice on how to not fail at life by meeting girls by playing Warhammer, getting a crap job, and spending $400. Get where I'm going with this?  (Good luck voting that up on Digg). The Dtoid Army has influence here. It's ours.  It's also a second chance to not suck for people that have been previously banned from Dtoid, as this runs on Reddit's external alien technology. 

How it works

If you're new to Reddit, here's how it works: Create an account to vote on the links you like most or submit your own. You can post comments, bury crap/dupes, and help influence what rises to the top.  There's a leaderboard and profile page that shows you how popular your contributions are. Simple and powerful. Like beans.

What comes next? 

Of course ... a contest!  In March, we'll start to kick off some prizes for the top contributors.  Until then, give the service a go and please send us feedback as to how we can make it even better.  Speaking of which, the most requested new feature for Destructoid is the ability to vote up Cblogs.  If you can understand step 3 at a glance, you can have my job. So, Dtoid Reddit is a step towards that. We're on it.
