You can mow down roman soldiers with an assault rifle in Darkest of Days. If that doesn't grab your attention, what will? Last time, we talked about the game's box art, which has a volcano on it. It's hard to say if its inclusion on the cover is due to Pompeii being a destination in Darkest of Days or because "it looked cool."

The latest news on Darkest of Days comes in the form of a video, which puts the game's weird assortment of weapons on display. As you can see in the header image, this information is truly vital to your survival.

Above all, I am happy to see the game not taking itself too seriously. Quite frankly, Darkest of Days looks like total bargain bin fodder, but I don't mean it as an insult, at least not yet. Earth Defense Force 2017. Need I say more?

I was "eh" on this until I saw some historical guys on horseback getting mowed down by an automatic weapon.

Is there a word for taking advantage of past civilizations with unfair weaponry? Historaping?

I'm still 'ehn' on the actual game, but the guys have a lot of damn good humour over there.

If you have modern weapons or future weapons and you're mowing down guys using single shot guns or spears, won't that make the game too easy?

I look foreword to this game. I mean who hasn't wanted to take a AR-15 back in time and singlehandedly pwning the roman empire.

I remember seeing this video the other day... maybe in the cblogs? Anyway it makes the game somewhat more appealing if anything just for the fact that you can use futuristic weapons on noobs from the past. haha

This game is going to be good in the same way that Eat Lead was, that is, *technically* not very good but so much fun that it doesn't even matter.

...it's a shotgun!

shotgunnin' Roman's got to me. Then again sniping generals and changing the course of war in 1776 sounds awesome.

Wow. Will we get to live every redneck's dream of the south "rising agian"? lol. As someone who loves history, this title just made a splash onto my "buy" list.

How do they get around the problem of ammunition? You're just walking around ancient Rome, blasting away, and as you search the bodies, you find laser-guided rockets? Do they make you pull a cart around loaded with ammo?
