Interplay details the revival of Earthworm Jim, MDK, and more of its classics photo

Remember when Interplay Entertainment teased us with the possibility of expanding upon some of its greatest franchises? Jim Sterling said he'd essentially lick the floor if a new Earthworm Jim ever came out, and for the record, I would too.

As it turns out, we may need to stock up on mouthwash before too long, as Interplay has announced its plan to return to the industry with a vengeance by releasing a smorgasbord of sequels for some of it's most beloved titles.

Among the games listed to receive sequels were Earthworm Jim, Dark Alliance, Descent, and MDK. Whether or not that ever happens depends on Interplay coming up with enough ways to finance such a tremendous process. Additionally, a Fallout MMO may very well be released down the road, if the company can gather up some $30 million in funding.

I wish you the best of luck in your pursuits, Interplay. Godspeed.

I'm a geezer when it comes to gaming, and some of my fondest memories come from ancient games on the Apple II. Out of This World, Neuromancer, Battle Chess... gems like Earthworm Jim and Rock N Roll Racing were certainly awesome, but those first three games give me warm nostalgic fuzzies just thinking about them.

Here's hoping that Interplay can come back and prove all the more that you don't need to make a FPS for it to be a good game and sell.

EJ and MDK! Awesome! I still haven't gotten into MMOs, but Fallout might do the trick.

Haven't they been trying and failing to revive Earthworm Jim for a while now?
