I was afraid Insomniac Games would abandon the franchise after hearing their comments "Maybe someone else will make Resistance 4." *sigh*
Hopefully whoever Sony picks next respects Insomniac's commitment to a great story, great gameplay (NO regenerating health and NO weapon limits), and most of all, FUN!
Thank you for three great games, Insomniac. Please don't abandon the Ratchet & Clank series though (thinks of High Impact Games and shivers).
All I ask is that Sony puts a team to work on a Resistance game based solely on R2's 8-player coop mode. It can even be a PSN release, or maybe for the Vita, but it has to get made. They didn't give us a DLC map pack for the mode in R2 so it's the least they can do.

Really? I might have to give it a second look then, because the demo was godawful.
@pascuz46
I agree 100% the online co-op in R2 was amazing, I sunk many, many hours into it and was hoping they would do something similar for R3.
KZ3. It's the better game hands down. That being said, I bought R3 instead of Gears of War 3 because I got a little tired of Gears and I do not regret my purchase. If you got a little franchise fatigue on Killzone, Resistance is certain to offer something a little different than what you're probably used to.
That being said, this is bad news for the fans.
Still.. they apparently have a new co-op cross platform IP so hopefully they keep true to their own vision and don't go the way of conformity.
Resistance 3 really drove home that feeling much like the first did. Resistance 2 had it's moments but it's the worst of the 3. Far and away Sony's most underrated series this gen, with IMO a much more relatable and entertaining Sci-Fi story than anything Halo could dream up (trollololol?)
I really liked the series, but I feel like it was over after 2 anyway.
Either way, it's always sad to see an IP "die", but five games is probably enough.
Good, finally a developer has the balls to just stop making a game before it becomes over saturated crap that only exists to turn a buck. Kudos to Insomniac.
Now if Sony will allow them to continue this stance, or try to figure a way to take the series elsewhere, is another story. Sony seems pretty invested in that series after all.
I would have liked one final game, exploring the origins of the Chimera virus. They could set it in Russia, and maybe have the player find themselves on the Chimeran home planet by the end or something. Oh well, maybe they'll return to the series five or ten years down the line?
That game did owe everything to Half life 2, though.
I really like Resistance 3, I hope they don't make another one.
I really like Uncharted 3, I hope they don't make another one.
There are so many decent to good franchises this generation that I really hope don't go to shit, but money talks.
