I'll admit it -- against my better judgment, I am getting excited for Killzone 2. I don't want to be, because as far as I'm concerned, Guerrilla Games is an unproven entity and has done nothing to convince me that it so far deserves its status as a top PS3 developer. However, what I am seeing and hearing is almost enough to convince me that for once, a Killzone game will justify its hype.
Insomniac, developer of fellow PS3 exclusive Resistance, has done little to cool my jets on the FPS, declaring it "awesome" and assuring the world that the experience is fun. Insomniac community manager James Stevenson beat the game, and is declaring his love to the Internet.
"I did indeed beat KZ2 tonight and it is indeed awesome," he beamed. "I know there will be plenty of comments, opinions, accolades and nitpicks, but for me, the game was fun ... My favorite part of the game was when you get this certain weapon."
Certain weapons CONFIRMED for Killzone 2! You better believe the weapons in that game are certain. They are certain as f*ck, son! Of course, it's obvious that this man is a Sony fanboy and as such, we can't listen to a single word he says, but if this animated GIF is anything to go by, Killzone 2 is looking gorgeous and, hopefully, will play just as beautifully.
Not that I'm getting unrealistic hopes up or anything.
"certain weapons confirmed" hahahohohehe
Works fine for me. Shouldn't be broken, sir.
The PSP version was light years better.
WTF? Resistance was an amazing game. Granted I haven't played the second, but I thought it was a brilliant FPS for a console.
I'm used to PC FPSs, but Resistance if anything, made me feel right at home.
Others have tried, even Halo, but they just seem "too" consoley. If they'd released R on PC, it would have gone down a storm.
I'm looking forward to K2. I only played the first couple of hours of the original, and whilst there was something missing, it wasn't a bad game by any means. They nailed the atmosphere, I'll give them that.
It would be good to see what a PS3 can do with 60% cpu load.
Resistance is average. I still don't know what people see in the game. I've played worse shooters but I've also played a ton of better shooters. I mean I know it was the only game PS3 owners had for a while but come on. It wasn't even 8/10 material.
Maybe Resistance 2 is better? The giant enemies look awesome but it still looks like a bland shooter.
There's no way in hell it could be worse than the first. Unless they are trying to make the shittiest game known to man.
I think the reason for this hype, including my own, is that Call of Duty 4 was the refreshing, amazing experience that got many players hooked back on their games and FPSs.
About 10 straight months of COD4 went into my life and it lost its Spark. I think we all think that fire will be re-ignited with Killzone 2. You know, if I hear "it's like a mix of COD4 and Team Fortress 2" ima wet myself.
sure the 360 has a larger number of games, but loads of them are only semi-good or worse...
stupid fanboys...
BOTH are FUCKING BRILLIANT consoles with Brilliant libraries of games, get over yourself instead of sucking bill gates/sony's dicks...
strange, because i too was a PC gamer mainly focusing on FPS. I now have a PS3 because the upgrade costs on my PC were becoming to expensive. I think that Resistance 2 is one of the better FPS i have played on a console too. I think that because it was intended for the PS3 helps, they seem to have perfected the controls on the PS3 analogue sticks. Ported FPS games dont seem to control very well on the PS3 controller.
@gamesronlygames
You can tell that to yourself over and over again but it's just not true so cut the crap, nobody believes you anymore. Wanker.
the ps3 has no games. it has eye-popping experiences.
The game play was pretty smooth (had dips here and there) but overall I had a blast and was sad to see the beta end :(.
[and i believe you are, we are destructoid after all]
..then im quite looking forward to playing this one :D
Freakin' ditto.
After £300 upgrades just to play Oblivion and FEAR, I thought I'd try consoles.
If an FPS is made for console, it'll work a lot better, even if it's just the timing.
I think Half Life 2 works better on consoles because it takes twice as long to complete. I finished it in 7 hours in my first run on PC. Consoles just slow the thing down a bit.
