Insane BioShock 'review commercial' makes me weak in the knees photo

BioShock is the type of game that I wish I could forget I ever played so I could go back and experience it for the first time all over again. This fantastic ad kind of gave me the same feeling -- even though it's basically a commercial showcasing the game's excellent reviews, the level of detail and atmosphere in it makes it well worth the watch.

I know a game has nailed atmosphere to perfection when I actually find myself thinking about going there as if it was a real place. Silent Hill used to take the cake for me, but I think of Rapture I wish I could spend a day there, despite splicers falling out of the ceiling and Big Daddies stomping about. If this kind of atmospheric immersion is the future of gaming, it could be the best era in gaming we've seen yet.

Really?

I'm actually not a huge fan of that commercial. It only really shows off the reviews (which is never a bad thing) but doesn't do that great of job of telling about the atmosphere the original commercial did for me.

If you don't like Bioshock, you just don't understand Bioshock.

Bioshock was great but the atmosphere of System Shock 2 pulled me in a lot deeper, and I usually hate sci-fi. Bioshock was a great game but it felt more like a spiritual successor to Half-Life 2 (gameplay wise) than System Shock 2. It got dumbed down too much. At least it was a good game, unlike Deus Ex: Invisible War.

It was pretty.
The storyline was pretty much MEH.
I don't see why it was perfect though...

I think it was relatively perfect for what it was, but I was looking for something deeper. The storyline in System Shock 2 was done better as well in my opinion. Even though the same guy wrote the logs you find, they didn't seem nearly as interesting in this game.

HawtPawkitHero is such a badass wildcard that he don't give a shit about your game of the year.

He played WoW.

The Story line itself starts off slow, but after a couple hours it does become GotY material. You just have to give it a chance :P....

At the rate of advancement in technology do you think rapture invented the internet before Al Gore did?

I'm so tired of this. People, please wake up. Bioshock was just good. GOOD! Not great or fantastic or GOTFY! It was a nice FPS in an original setting, but really what's so damn amazing? If you play it for just 1 hour, you've seen everything it has to offer you, which is some water, some hallways, a big daddy, a creepy bitch, some guns, some powers, and some freaks. Every hour from then on just repeats this. Now if it were a great game, it might, I don't know, take me to a new level with a new setting or visual style or just something other than shades of rust brown.

I don't like it because I don't "get" it? No. I don't like it, because I "got" it long before the average player did, apparently, most likely because FPS is my favorite genre, and Bioshock didn't surprise, startle, or intrigue me in any way.

HOW DARE ANYONE SAY BIOSHOCK IS ANYTHING MORE THAN MERELY GOOD?!!!1~1212~12 YOU ARE WRONG!!!!@`!2`1@ I'M SO TIRED OF THIS!!!@#!@!@4341~4`!!! HHHHUUUURRRRRGGGGG!!!`12~!2~!@`344~`23!!

Insert close sarcasm tag here, obviously, because I personally thought Bioshock was as awesome as everyone has said it was, considering that I only recently finished it for the first time. Up there with HL2. Sadly, I haven't played System Shock 2 past the tutorial level because it kept crashing on me, but if it really is better than Bioshock as some are saying, then damn... just damn. I need to find a way to make it work.
