Infogrames CEO hopes to break even with new Alone in the Dark photo

They have been through more than their share of tough times, but Infogrames has always managed to trudge on -- they are survivors. Even if the company has been dancing around the red since 1999, CEO David Gardner feels that the upcoming game, Alone in the Dark is going to set things right for them:

"Over the life of the product in this business year [April to March] across platforms we are expecting between two and three million units."

The game isn't slated for release until June 24, but from what we've seen, it looks like it has the potential to be a decent addition to the survival horror genre of games that it spawned. There is still that one nagging aspect of the game mentioned before, but we'll see how that works out once the finished version sees the light of day.

There's no way of forecasting the sales of the game for certain, but there are more than a few gamers out there who cut their teeth on survival horror classics like Alone in the Dark. Intuition tells us me those same gamers are going to take a sizeable chunk out of that 3 million wish list. I can't speak for the masses, but I know of at least one copy that's going to be accounted for -- mine.

AitD games are usually pretty good, but they cater to a different audience than RE games, in my opinion. AitD:TNN for Dreamcast was pretty awesome, but it was hard as Hell, in my opinion. Keeping enemies at bay with a flashlight was just tedious.

The hype vehicle for this title appears to be lacking.

I really want to play it though.

I never played any of the older ones, but I'll probably pick this one up, pending good reviews.
