Infinity Ward vaguely teases Modern Warfare 2 surprises photo

As with any good game that, y'know, has an interesting storyline, there's always something we don't find out about until we play the full game for ourselves. Whether that is a plot twist, an epic set piece, or a new form of gameplay, it doesn't matter. The marketing department can't give away all of the juicy details.

Modern Warfare 2 is no exception, but that's not going to stop Infinity Ward from trying to get us even more hyped for November (if that's possible). Talking to VideoGamer, community manager Robert Bowling says "there's so much this time around that we're holding back, mostly story stuff."

"I feel like we've only talked about 20 percent of the game so far. There are some huge surprises," he explains. "There is something we haven't talked about ... once you see it you completely forget everything we've already talked about. It becomes this whole new game."

"Some stuff we will never talk about till launch," he continues, "and that's just because we want that ... it's emotional stuff that we want to have that emotional response when you play, not read it in a magazine and then you're like, oh yeah I know about that."

It's almost best not to think about Modern Warfare 2 until you are physically putting the disc in your system. That way, you can go about living your life normally and don't inadvertently build it up to be this experience that no game can fulfill. Yes, I know stories like this aren't helping. Forgive me!

blah, blah, blah. i can't wait for this game, but i hate this kind of "we will blow your mind" pr/marketing hype. just improve on cod4 and most of us will be happy.

I always think of CoD:4 as one of the few shooter with decent storyline PLUS gameplay. Nothing compared to some RPG's of course, but better than most FPS.

But this sound a little bit too overrated for me unless, of course, ninjas start appearing. That would be quite a twist.

I think FPS's plot usually have one thing over RPGs:"tightness" of scripted events. Seriously, see those conversations in Mass Effect or Fallout 3, time gap and lag between sentences, need to stand up right to talk and simply stupid camera angle.FPS's events feel much more fluid...though they tend to has a lot less dialog, that's for sure

I play COD4 to this day. And I love it. It's hard for me not to be excited for MW2.

As soon as I read the word "emotional", I instantly thought "Soap dies".

"There are some huge surprises..."
I'm not sure 55 pounds in the UK really counts as a surprise anymore.

Maybe they're referencing some new feature, like 'multiplayer isn't just spamming helicopters over and over' or something.

This game is way too overhyped....I thought while COD 4 was good, it was one of the most overrated games along with Halo 3.

This game is just another shooter. Maybe the most polished one, but it is just another shooter.

Bioshock was more than just a shooter.

(Modern Warfare 1 spoiler alert to follow...) I fell in love with MW1 when the nuke went off about half-way through the story and your player is allowed to shamble around the ruins for a few minutes before dying. If there's one thing IW has sold me on, it's their story-telling ability and their amazing set pieces. The multiplayer for me is an afterthought (I'm more of a TF2 guy myself).

I hope they STFU and keep it a secret. Suprise us for once instead of showing us the entire game before release.

Amen to that brother...I can't wait for this game. I was never much of a CoD4 MP fan, but I thought the story was great. Now since my clan has been battling on CoD, I've come to love CoD4 and WaW(sorry, I'm a die-hard Rainbow6/Ghost Recon/SoCoM guy).

Which is why I'm only focusing on acquiring all information on multiplayer; other wise, I avoid any plot-focused speculations or info.

I'm very interested to see what this is referring to. We should come back to this once the game releases to see if it matches up with our expectations.

how about this, you allready blew our minds, everyone wants it, so STFU and either release another teaser video, or offer more preorder stuff besides stupid art books. other than that i dont want to hear about it until it comes out. the majority who are going to buy it have made up their mind already, at most were just holding off to order it. i dont see a reason to preorder. i dont get anything usefull. i have nvg's, i dont want your stupid artbook, and i dont want your stupid download of an old game.
