Infinite Space trailer looks like an anime that you play photo

Dale North brought you some screens yesterday from the upcoming DS RPG Infinite Space, and today a trailer popped up that we thought you might enjoy. While no actual gameplay is shown, you can get a feel for the story and characters by watching it, and it pretty much looks like what I imagine playing an anime would be like.

This seems like a creative RPG, handing you the task of designing and controlling your own spaceship, and also allows you to choose from 150 different crewmembers and 150 different customization options. Also worth noting is that the game is based on an Arthur C. Clarke novel called Childhood's End. It's a pretty rich read, and I have to admit my interest wasn't majorly piqued until I heard that, but I can't help but wonder if some of those deeper elements will make it into the story. If so, we could have something really good on our hands here.

While the Youtube trailer doesn't seem to have a lot of gameplay footage, there's a TGS 2008 trailer on the website which does.

Ah, I love Legend of Galactic Heroes-style massive-fleet-advancing-slowly-in-cloud-of-beam-spam battles.

Also, there seems to be a LOT of FMV in this game, unless the trailer content is just the intro or something. Didn't think a DS cart had that much space...

Is she playing a piano in a middle of a battle?! Talk about priorities...

@Chronic Logic

I'd bet money that that is how she runs the ship.

This looks great. Reminds me of those weird space opera cartoons I used to watch as a kid but now only vaguely remember...that one about the battleship Yamato in space, etc.

Childhood's End is worth nothing? You sound like you liked it.

@zeroword

Well, if nothing else the foundation in this game is light, as humans are clearly NOT banned from building spaceships.

What does this game have to do with Childhood's End? Childhood's End was about aliens coming to earth and something deeper going on( I wont spoil it ).

I'm interested in the game, but I'm not really seeing the connection or basing( Spoiler: Unless the children have the same telekinetic powers and other abilities. End Spoiler )

This is pretty tame for former hentai artists. Can't wait to play a space opera on my ds!
