@Grimspoon - What do you have against free-to-play games? When executed correctly, they are some of the best games out there. Tribes: Ascend, Team Fortress 2, the upcoming Hawken, and Blacklight: Retribution are just some of the f2p titles I can think of that are fantastic.
THIS IS GENIUS. And for those who say f2p is bad, we don't even know what the business model for this will be. Besides, as Patrick said, there's a shit ton of great f2p titles out there.
By business model, I mean whether or not there will be any purchases to get content and all that, or if it'll be more of a TF2 model with a bunch of hats and stuff.
Nothing wrong with Free to Play. It's free. You play it. Free.

Land to space travel in a video game has been a dream of mine for so so so long. This might be the last thing I ever play. Hope its good
"Free-to-play" has kinda become associated with a business model in the industry now. No harm in just saying it is free.
they may have mentioned this but i have the volume down: is this built with cryengine? certainly looks that way from the lighting and motion blur. needless to say the visual quality as a whole is excellent.

Can't shake the feeling that FTP = pay to win. I was in the Tribes beta and that was definitely the case there.
TF2 is just hat collecting; even when it was a paid game. I can live with that but when they made the game FTP it opened the floodgates of a certain type of gamer and my enjoyment levels went from very little to none at all.
I'll be trying Hawken since I got a closed beta reserved spot. I'm setting my expectations to low in any case.
Free to play games just don't do it for me. I think if they aren't scummy, imbalanced or full of dirtbags who don't want to spend money to enjoy this hobby, then at the very least I find it very difficult to invest time into something that I have no financial attachment to.

That looks really promising and I guess less dry than Minecraft. I wonder what crazy things the community will come up with.
This game looks too ambitious for its own good. I'll hope for the best, but I'm not getting too excited just yet.

A game where you can dig a hole to the core of the planet, then a mountain to SPACE, and then jump? Holy shit, the logo reminded me of Tyrian.
That was unbelievable. Its not the sort of game I'm normally interested in, but I'm completely stunned.
When two guys can make something that looks that cool it puts the AAA industry to shame. Hundreds of people are making a co-op version of Dead Space with a budget of hundreds of millions, meanwhile a couple of dudes are moving the industry forward in their spare time.
Why do people keep listing Blacklight as a good model of Free to Play? You can buy things out of your level range with real money, and which pose a definite advantage. The fucking definition of a pay to win game, especially because it's by Perfect World.

Meh. Doesn't sound like a game. Sounds like a sandbox choose-your-own-goals and walk-around-aimlessly thing. Still a game, I guess, not my kind of game though.
