Well, at least by putting that info at the end you got me to read the whole article. So, kudos to you for that.
The demo here, in my machine run at 10 fps or something like that, well, is a alpha, so makes sense.
The logo btw is amazing. Makes me think Illusion of Gaia !!
look forward to playing it.
Can't shake the feeling that FTP = pay to win. I was in the Tribes beta and that was definitely the case there.
TF2 is just hat collecting; even when it was a paid game. I can live with that but when they made the game FTP it opened the floodgates of a certain type of gamer and my enjoyment levels went from very little to none at all.
I'll be trying Hawken since I got a closed beta reserved spot. I'm setting my expectations to low in any case.
Free to play games just don't do it for me. I think if they aren't scummy, imbalanced or full of dirtbags who don't want to spend money to enjoy this hobby, then at the very least I find it very difficult to invest time into something that I have no financial attachment to.
@Grimspoon: I do agree somewhat regarding the kinds of players that are drawn to free-to-play games. A barrier to entry, however slight, helps filter out undesirables.
Even so, I really dig Tribes: Ascend. I can overlook a lot for a game that gets skiing almost entirely right. It's not precisely the Tribes I knew and loved, but it's solid enough on its own.
If there's a mod or admin in the house, could you put ScrappyDoo's account under surveillance? i think it might have been hacked, compromised or something.
