Indie devs and artists unite for Comics Vs. Games

7:30 PM on 04.30.2012

If you are in Toronto this week, you might want to scoot on by the Comics vs. Games exhibition, hosted by TIFF Nexus and led by They Bleed Pixels creator Miguel Sternberg. The main draw of the event is a set of five games, each co-developed by a duo consisting of a game dev and a comic artist. The games, as showcased in the video above, range from a Victorian-era, turn-based RPG to a twin-stick shooter starring Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, and Tupac Shakur.

In addition, the exhibition features an art showcase, hosted by game culture shop Attract Mode. Guests include Ashley Davis, Chris Furniss, Zac Gorman, Maré Odomo, Cory Schmitz, and others, contributing pieces based on Comix Zone, Journey, Gitaroo Man, Uncharted, No More Heroes... you name it!

The Magic Pony gallery will play host to Comics Vs. Games through May 3, after which the Toronto Comics Art Festival will take over on May 5 and 6.

Slender: The Arrival is out on PS4 and Xbox One today

Do people still think Slenderman is scary? I don't really know; it seems like the well-dressed humanoid has faded from the collective consciousness lately. Maybe it's just that I don't visit meme websites any more. Slender: ...more
