Good, good: Battlefield Hardline delayed to 2015

Visceral Games is pushing Battlefield Hardline from October 2014 to early 2015 in order to better meet player feedback from the beta it ran this year. After Battlefield 4's troubled launch, I doubt any of us need to be convin...

There's a Hummer H1 in Forza Horizon 2, and these 99 other cars

I hate Hummers so much. Only in America would a car that stupid get that popular. Of course, Forza Horizon 2 has the H1, the actual Humvee-looking one that isn't any less stupid for civilian driving, but at least it doesn't look like a gangly, overgrown Power Wheels like the popular H2 you still see out and about sometimes. The first 100 cars are listed here.

Mysterious Super Saiyan revealed in new Dragon Ball Xenoverse demos

A new batch of screens and art have revealed more of the mysterious figure seen during the announcement of Dragon Ball Xenoverse at E3 2014. This character, uncharacteristically for Saiyans, seems to have red hair instead of ...

Review: The Walking Dead Season 2: Amid the Ruins photo
Review: The Walking Dead Season 2: Amid the Ruins
by Chris Carter

The last episode of The Walking Dead was probably my favorite one yet -- and that's including all of Lee's tale from the first season. Clem has made the switch from tough to full-on badass depending on your choices, and it's clear that she is fully a part of some of the horrific life-or-death choices in the world.

Clem can no longer hold onto her innocence and fall back on her young appearance -- at this point, many decisions have been made that cannot be taken back, and the rest of the group is starting to notice it. That hook right there is what makes Amid the Ruins such a great tale, even if it doesn't have the same wow factor as its predecessor.

Review: Dark Souls II: The Crown of the Sunken King photo
Review: Dark Souls II: The Crown of the Sunken King
by Chris Carter

2014 has been very good to me, but Dark Souls II is one of my favorite games of the year. Many debates have raged on as to whether or not it's as exceptional as its predecessor (Demon's Souls is better than both), but having played it prior to launch without any hints or guides, I heartily enjoyed getting lost in its labyrinthine tunnels and deadly arenas.

The Crown of the Sunken King DLC expands that goodness by about five to ten hours depending on your skill level, and even if it's one of the less remarkable levels in the game, it's still worth playing.

This is Skylanders Trap Team's Dark Edition

$99 to get started with Skylanders Trap Team in style -- thank heavens I'm not a kid (or don't have children, for that matter) because I'd be all over this. Activision has opened pre-orders for the Trap Team Dark Edition, whi...

Take a field trip to Destiny's Vanguard Armory with a pre-order

PlayStation owners: How's the downtime in the Destiny beta treating you? Itching to get back in? Xbox players: Are you struggling to contain your excitement until it goes live for you in two days? If you've fallen prey ...

Team USA's Clint Dempsey loses Xbox shirt for PS3/PS4 FIFA 15 cover

Lionel Messi will grace the cover of FIFA for the third year straight year, but FIFA 15's North American release will see team USA's Clint Dempsey creeping behind Messi, wondering why his lighting is so different.  ...

FIFA 15 puts priority on emotions and giant dogpiles

Last month, I did my best to tell you what EA Sports wanted to put emphasis on for its three big sports titles this year. Then, it went and undermined me by releasing videos that say exactly what I wrote. In the unfortunate ...

Kojima makes a statement about nuclear warfare with MGS V's Mother Base

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's Mother Base will serve as more than just a center of operations for Snake; it'll double as a launching pad for Hideo Kojima to make poignant statements about the cycle of war. According ...

Pucks and players are more chaotic in NHL 15

About a month ago, I explained how EA Sports' big focus for NHL 15 was physics. In the event that you didn't believe me (or hate reading), this video adequately sums up the studio's intentions. Watch it to learn how pucks bounce or to see Matt Duchene crash the net like a total badass.

So what's new in the Destiny beta?

I haven't had all the time in the world to play the Destiny beta, but I did manage to get in for a while and check out what's different compared to the alpha I tested out recently. For starters, you're going to get more ...

Risen 3's Demon Hunters faction sounds like the one to side with

First came the CGI trailer for Risen 3: Titan Lords, and now, screenshots. The one above? My favorite of the pack by a wide margin. Some of the others are oddly blinding. The game features three factions and one of them is ca...

Video: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's new Stingray vehicle, Athena breakdown, and smart guns? photo
Video: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's new Stingray vehicle, Athena breakdown, and smart guns?
by Bill Zoeker

I got my hands on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel recently, and I've got some hot info on the new mechanics, and one of the new player characters, Athena the Gladiator. The game's new Stingray vehicle has a neat trick to it, there may be smart-targeting laser guns in this new iteration, most importantly, Athena is definitely a badass.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel releases in North America on October 14th, 2014; with the worldwide release following on the 17th.

Slender: The Arrival is coming to consoles, bringing new VHS-based terrors
by Bill Zoeker

Slender: The Arrival is coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this year, and it's arriving with some added content (which owners of the game on PC will receive for free). Casey Lynch from Midnight City came by to play through one of the new levels with Max.

The level shown in the above video actually takes place on a VHS tape being viewed by another character from the game. It puts the player in the shoes of CR, who is investigated the disappearance of a child named Charlie Matheson.
