Badland is coming to consoles with a Game of the Year edition photo
Badland is coming to consoles with a Game of the Year edition
by Chris Carter

Badland is still one of my favorite iOS games to date, and it looks like it's coming to the Wii U eShop, Xbox One, Vita, PC, PS3, and PS4. Developer Frogmind Games is crafting a new Game of the Year version for the console, which adds in 100 solo levels and 100 co-op stages. There's no set date yet but we can likely expect it in 2015.

Some of you may scoff at the "Game of the Year" notion, but many mobile sites legitimately awarded the game with that honor in 2013. It's definitely worth checking out, as co-op worked great, even on an iPad.

Years later, Torchlight II is almost ready for Mac

You mean to tell me 2012's action-RPG Torchlight II isn't already available for Mac? Oh. I see. Well, props to Runic Games for not abandoning the task, then. Maybe I'll play it on my next flight. The Mac version of Torchligh...

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U contains a ton of unused data

Some people make it a hobby to find out everything they can about a game, inside and out, and these data miners have been poring over the code of Super Smash Bros. since release. Over the last couple of months, bits an...

Speedrunner hilariously breaks Psychonauts as its developers watch in horror

More fun times from Double Fine's Devs Play series. This episode, if you've seen the exceptional Lion King and Doom videos already, is centered on the studio's own baby, Psychonauts. Double Fine founder Tim Schafer and co. f...

Here's your first look at Dragon's Dogma Online

The headline pretty much gives you the full story. Capcom has released the debut footage of Dragon's Dogma Online, its newly announced free-to-play multiplayer role-playing game. The title is slated to launch in Japan later ...

Indigo Prophecy gets an HD trailer, downed Amazon page

Hey, Indigo Prophecy is looking pretty good. I wish this remaster would've picked a name and stuck to it, though. Calling it Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy is just kind of messy and goes against na...

More games need cupcakes as playable characters

I'm a jerk who totally forgot about The Behemoth's Game 4 despite playing a fun chunk of the tactical role-playing title alongside its narrator, Will Stamper, and loving every minute of it. So to selfishly put it back on my ...

Silence is coming to PS4...an adventure game, not the lack of sound

Adventure game developer Daedalic's latest effort is getting all gussied up and 3D looking. Silence: The Whispered World 2, sequel to 2010's The Whispered World is coming to PC, Mac, and Linux early 2015 and was re...

Give me Shelter (and all its cute animals, too)

Shelter 2 is putting you higher up on its gorgeous food chain. The first game had you playing as a badger and it seems like no one wants to be a badger. So for the sequel you are a lynx, just trying to raise your family--something we can all relate to.  Oh, and it's out in February. Hooray.

I can't even play Demoman this well in my dreams

I've contemplated returning to Team Fortress 2, if only for a few matches, but I'll probably get my ass kicked. After watching this skillful highlight reel from Demoman player Kaidus, I'm sure of it. This guy knows what you're going to do before you do.

Already done everything in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes? Try rolling everywhere

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a short game. After you have a good feel for what you're doing, you can run it over and over, experimenting all the way. Eventually, you'll know it like the back of your hand (assumi...

Starbound update includes new race, new combat, new universe

Wow. It has been a long time. I thought that maybe I had missed a stable update somewhere along the line, but by Chucklefish's own admission, this is the first one since last March. To take a step back, development on Starbo...

Samurai Gunn gets free big update, Mac release

Samurai Gunn is great. It's a mainstay in my living room, especially with the backwards compatible PS1 taking a dive (no more convenient Bushido Blade). I also gave it a 2014 game of the year award even though...

This Destiny guitar medley is pretty rockin'

One of the best soundtracks I listened to all year was easily Destiny. For all the problems that the game had, it was a joy to listen to, especially while in orbit waiting for a group or a connection. Guitarist Ryan Abu...

League of Legends' Curse of the Sad Mummy video is depressing photo
League of Legends' Curse of the Sad Mummy video is depressing
by Chris Carter

People often chide the League of Legends series for having a silly story, but as a player I dig the character fluff. Amumu has always been one of my favorites -- a sad mummy boy who just wants to find out who he really is.

In this official music video from Riot Games, you can get a glimpse into the depressing life of Amumu. Like the studio's past efforts, it's actually pretty good.
