Whoa, it's 2014! What do you know! Well, here's what we know: Sony has detailed PlayStation Now, the Gaikai streaming plan, Valve has showed off fourteen different Steam Boxes and Dale got to play with that funky new controll...
Hey gang, remember 2013? I sure (mostly) do! It was a wild and crazy year not just for video games, but for the video game industry as a whole. So here are my Top 10 Things And Stuff That Happened In 2013.
Hey gang! Sorry I wasn't around on Tuesday, but there wasn't a whole lot of news -- so here's a rundown of today's big news, including yesterday's big ol' Nintendo Direct, that new realistic medieval RPGKingdom Come: Deliverance, and the Xbox One's upcoming documentary series on the E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Atari 2600 game. No, seriously.
Hey gang! Here's your Destructoid news update for this Thursday. I dabbled in some non-gaming news, I hope you don't mind. There are a lot more exciting movie trailers this week than there are game trailers.
Hey hey! This video was supposed to go up yesterday afternoon, but a series of unfortunate events resulted in it going up very late last night, and then internet witchcraft prevented me from putting up a post. So, if you don't mind a little reheated day-old news, here ya go. CUT ME SOME SLACK I'M DOING THIS ALL ON MY OWN.
Hey guys! Here's another newsy-type update, which I hope can become a regular thing. It's not quite the Destructoid show you're used to, but you can see we've made some progress. I swear to god, Destructoid has been cursed by...
[Note: YouTube's still processing the trimmed video. The show actually starts at the 20:10 mark]
Hey everybody! If you missed it, Spencer and I went live earlier this afternoon with a very low-key, laid back episode of The D...
Hey gang! Well, the plan was to do a big proper episode of The Destructoid Show, live, at 3:30 on the dot. However, things didn't go quite according to plan. After an hour of technical difficulties, we managed to go live. It...
If you guys have been keeping track, The Destructoid Show came to an end two months ago, and I announced my departure from Revision3 about one month ago. And today, in an effort to further confuse my extended family who were never entirely sure what my job was to begin with, I'm proud to announce that I am back with Destructoid, full-time, as their head warlock of video-related crap -- which will include, in some form, a resurrection of the Destructoid Show.
To kick this off, please join me this Friday at 3:30 PM Pacific time (-8:00 GMT) on YouTube for a LIVE Destructoid Show. Y'know, for old time's sake.
Well, guys. This is it. The final episode. Tara and I run down a whole bunch of our favorite moments from hosting this insane show.
I've been involved in this site for a bit over three years, and it's been nothing short of life-changing. Thank you guys so much for watching our show, and even if you didn't watch it, thanks for being a part of such an amazing community. Tara and I might be gone from Destructoid, but we'll still be doing plenty of video stuff on Rev3Games, so come say hello. And, of course, The Dtoid YouTube channel is still alive and well, as I'm sure you guys are all well aware.
Once again, thank you. Thank you to Niero and company for giving us a chance to do something so cool, which has somehow turned into a full-blown career path, and thanks to all of you guys who supported us along the way. I'm pretty good at puns and bad jokes, but effectively conveying how grateful I am for where this amazing video game website has taken me is a bit beyond my grasp. In a nutshell: I love you all more than pizza.
I have to go now, my planet needs me. (Also, I'm probably gonna start crying.)
Because life wasn't depressing enough already, today will mark the final episode of The Destructoid Show. It's the end of an era, folks.
So, rather than discussing boring old video game news, Max and I will be going out with ...
Here's today's Destructoid Show -- sort of an odd one, since it's the last time we'll be reading the news to you. Of course, we'll have a big huge send-off episode on Friday, but this is the last we'll be doing a standard news show. Thankfully, we actually have some news to discuss.
For starters, Sony announced some cute little PS Vita slims, as well as PS Vita TV, which seems like an odd device. The guys who made Far Cry 3 have decided to make something that's the opposite of Far Cry 3, which apparently is a whimsical JRPG called Child of Light. The new Call of Duty: Ghoststrailer has a dog biting a guy in a helicopter, so I shout about it a bunch. Not to be out-dogged by Activision, Ubisoft also has a war game with a dog in it, called Valiant Hearts: The Great War, but it's all artsy and emotional.
Hey gang! Here's today's very somber Destructoid Show. A serious one. With no jokes.
(I'm just kidding, there are jokes.)
The Xbox One finally has a release date, but don't worry, because the Xbox 360 still has a few more ye...
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I hope you're all safe and sound following PAX 2013! I got to drunkenly shout moist pleasantries in the vicinity of a bunch of you, and that was absolutely lovely. For those of you who missed it, you have my deepest sympathies.
The exciting news: Niero and company have announced Destructoid HUGE, a premium membership program for the site, which will give members ad-free site access, discounts on merch, automatic contest entry, exclusive content, and more, for a measly $2.99 a month, or $29.99 a year. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" and considering how much Destructoid rules for free, just imagine how cool it'll be when there's money rolling in. It's only a matter of time until there's a whole portal full of exlusive Jonathan Holmes sexy muscleman pin-ups.
The sad news: The Destructoid Show is coming to an end. Tara and I will continue to crank out stuff full-time over on Rev3Games, but we're parting ways with our beloved red-eyed robot overlord Mr. Destructoid.
Destructoid's founder, and the man who got me my start in this kickass industry wrote up his thoughts, which you can read after the break.
Greetings, internet citizens! Max was out of the office today, so I grabbed Techfeed's Scott Bromley (and fellow host of The Comedy Button) to chat with me about GTA V's Collector's Edition, the rumored-but-not-yet-announced Borderlands 2 GOTY Edition, the phasing out of MS Points, and whether or not you'll be required to use magic in The Elder Scrolls Online. We've also got details on the must-see panels and parties of PAX Prime 2013, so if you plan on attending this year - listen up!
