EA unveils first NBA Live 15 screen

The last time we talked about the NBA Live saga, we had heard from the developers that they "fell short" on NBA Live 14. As many of you noted in the comments, that's and understatement. So, the jury is still out on Live ...

EA producer: 'We fell short' on NBA Live 14

In a change of pace, a rather candid letter was posted on the EA Sports website (that's a thing) from Executive Producer Sean O' Brien -- tasked with handling the upcoming NBA Live 15. The letter opens up with explaining that...

FIFA 15 on PC won't use the old engine again

While EA Sports went with its new Ignite engine for FIFA 14 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the company opted not to use the game engine for the PC version. At the time, it was argued that the average player didn't have a good...

First NHL 15 screen isn't of an Avalanche player like it should be

EA Sports has released the first screenshot for NHL 15, and it features San Jose captain Joe Thornton rocking an unimpressive beard, because they're the Sharks and their long list of playoff flameouts disappoint in both the c...

Here's a look at the Japan World Cup Pikachu jersey

We recently told you that Japan's World Cup mascot is Pokemon. It started as a promotional campaign, moved into merchandising, and now has brought us to Pikachu jerseys. How cute! Inside Games has images of the Adidas/Pokemon...

EA Sports UFC shows off its fighting women

The game does look pretty impressive, but is it just me or does the whole thing sort of lack grace? The fighters seem a little more awkward and stilted than I would like. Of course, just because there isn't lifelike fidelity doesn't mean it doesn't play well (Dale was impressed with it). Just the sequence around 40 seconds looks a bit goofy.

Powerstar Golf is now 'free' with paid DLC photo
Powerstar Golf is now 'free' with paid DLC
by Jordan Devore

Microsoft Studios and developer Zoë Mode have altered the pricing of Powerstar Golf such that there's now a free demo-like base version of the game and content has been relegated to DLC packs. Your progress made here will transfer over if and when you add premium courses.

It's now possible to pay $19.99 (the original price) for all packs, or buy them individually at $5.99 a piece. Those are City Park, Emperor's Garden, Burning Sands, and Rocky Ridge. If you happen to already own Powerstar Golf, heads up: a bonus free pack, Coyote Canyon, is out today.

Actually, I'm a fan of this. It's a lower-risk way of getting into the game.

MLB 14 on PS4 is fastest selling in franchise history

I might've dug into MLB 14 on PS4 a bit for its slow load times, but that's the only slow thing about it. According to the PlayStation Blog, MLB 14 on PS4, "exceeded the previous marks for most preorders, most day-one sales, and most week one sales," and, compared to last year, week one sales shot up 40%. Oh, and what's with the Orioles being the most played team?

Here's Bruce Lee kicking ass in EA Sports UFC

My gut reaction to hearing that Bruce Lee would be playable in EA Sports UFC was "Huh? That's a bit odd." In recent weeks, I've come around to find his inclusion to be in good fun. If you remain unconvinced, here's a video i...

Vote Richard Sherman to the Madden 15 cover

Who on here deserves it more? Maybe Jamaal Charles for being on the Chiefs? Well, that didn't get Steven Jackson any cover appearances for the decade he toiled away on the Rams. And for context, I am a Rams fan advising you t...

Review: Sportsfriends photo
Review: Sportsfriends
by Chris Carter

Sportsfriends is another example of a last-minute Kickstarter save. Although it didn't look like it was going to get funded, fans came together on the final stretch and gave the game a chance -- which leads us into the PS3 and PS4 release this month.

So was it worth the wait? Well that depends on how much you want to play Johann Sebastian Joust.

MLB 14 looks great on PS4, but comes with load times slower than baseball photo
MLB 14 looks great on PS4, but comes with load times slower than baseball
by Steven Hansen

I was mostly satisfied with MLB 14 The Show's initial PS3 and Vita release. Hitting ahead of the PS4 version led to some (perhaps overdue) improvements, from the UI overhaul to PS3/PS4/Vita cross saves to a universal The Show profile to franchise carry over into the next years' installments.

Coupled with little touches like a new dynamic camera angle, the addictive weekly challenge, and even more gameplay options (Quick Count and Player Lock), it felt like a worthy send off for the best baseball series of the last generation.

The problem, of course, is when the PS4 version hits (now), none of this is new. It just looks better. And somehow loads slower.

Stick it to the man with two more free PlayStation Plus games photo
Stick it to the man with two more free PlayStation Plus games
by Steven Hansen

Tomorrow's Tuesday, which means more free games (you'll likely never play despite still paying for the service) for PlayStation Plus.

For PS4, we have Stick It to the Man, which I hear is real good and I like for its gross 90's cartoon art style.

On PS3, you can avoid giving EA more money for calcio -- soccer -- games and get PES 2014 instead. Simulate the world cup atmosphere by becoming aggressively nationalistic. Glare sidelong at anyone who appears to be from another country than you and start planning now for excuses for why your country was knocked out.
