Seven things I loved about playing Watch Dogs

The delay of Ubisoft Montreal's new open world IP, Watch Dogs, surprised many. With only a month away from launch, and a rather bold marketing push for the holiday season, Ubisoft appeared ready, but then we found it wasn't. ...

Super Time Force screenshots to pass the time

I've run out of fresh things to say about the time-rewinding run-and-gun game Super Time Force, so apologies if this all sounds familiar and you find that bothersome. It still looks great! Capy doesn't have a clear release da...

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment being localized this summer

Will a bunch of people complain about how I just don't like anime if I say that Sword Art Online doesn't seem very good? Though at least it might make a passable game. Hard to mess up multiplayer monster fighters with bad wr...

Namco takes Gundam Vs gameplay west with F2P Rise of Incarnates photo
Namco takes Gundam Vs gameplay west with F2P Rise of Incarnates
by Steven Hansen

The 2 on 2 Gundam vs. Gundam series is as big in Japan as that full-scale Gundam model in Tokyo. It's also big on the Destructoid Forum, in that one Gundam fan keeps explaining how it's the best fighting game and tries to get people to import it. I'm more of a Gundam Battle Assault 2 kind of guy.

Anyway, Namco is taking the format of Gundam Vs. and bringing it west with a new IP, the free-to-play Rise of Incarnates. Because the 2 on 2 format is a bit different for Western audiences, Namco went with a F2P model to build a player base.

And you know it's been developed specifically for the west for several reasons. First, the initial stage being shown off is New York, with the post-apocalyptic staple crumbling Statue of Liberty. Second, there is a blond character with big hair. He looks just like us, my fellow Americans, with his rock and roll nonchalance and red leather jacket.

Though he turns into a monster and there is a mad scientist who rides on a tidal wave of corpses.

You know, Dragon Age: Inquisition's box art is pretty cool

It's rare that videogame cover art can energize me enough to want to write about it (unless we're talking the oft-excellent fan-made stuff), but there are exceptions. Not to oversell you on Dragon Age: Inquisition's cover, or anything. It's good! Better than expected coming off of Dragon Age II, certainly. Let's hope that rings true for all aspects of the game.

New Lost Dimension screens pop up on Amazon Japan

We finally got a peek at what upcoming PS3 and Vita RPG Lost Dimension looks like in the first batch of screenshots. Now, thanks to a new Amazon Japan listing, We have about 6 more screenshots of Lancarse's new game, and they're a bit better as far as resolution is concerned.  What do you think? And what do you think is up with that black-on-red one?

Super Smash Bros screenshot extravaganza: 130 new screens photo
Super Smash Bros screenshot extravaganza: 130 new screens
by Dale North

Here is a blowout gallery of 130 new screenshots from the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros., featuring new looks at new characters Zero Suit Samus, Yoshi, Sheik, Charizard, and Greninja. This comes hot off the Nintendo Direct broadcast that featured these new guys.

My favorite of the bunch is the one above. It depicts all that is right about videogames today, though Luigi getting busted in the nose by Samus' knee is also great.

What's your favorite?

Here's a launch into one of our gallery viewers. Enjoy!

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare adds free Zomboss Down DLC photo
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare adds free Zomboss Down DLC
by Jordan Devore

I'm not sure which alternate dimension Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare came from or how it got here but PopCap's wacky third-person shooter has been a pleasant surprise. Against all odds, the game keeps on giving: another free DLC pack called Zomboss Down is out today, adding eight new characters and the Cactus Canyon map for Gardens and Graveyards mode.

The character level cap has also been increased to level 30, complete with new challenges to conquer, and there are 200+ customization items for the new cast of plants and zombies. Even though the last DLC release was free, I'm still surprised to see this one follow the same plan and PopCap not overwhelm players with microtransactions. Gosh, what a terrific game.

A head in the poles: Project Totem is platforming fun photo
A head in the poles: Project Totem is platforming fun
by Steven Hansen

Press Play proved it can make a platformer with Max and the Curse of Brotherhood, but it wasn't meant to test your muscle memory and invite speed running. It was a colorful adventure with some charm and plenty of stopping for to draw with the magic marker.

With it's newest project, Press Play is dialing up the pure platforming with a minimalist design and some nasty platforming hazards. Nasty meaning cool. The point is I got into a heck of a comfortable groove with Project Totem and maybe you should too when it comes out.

Forza Motorsport 5 gets another free track tomorrow photo
Forza Motorsport 5 gets another free track tomorrow
by Jordan Devore

Additional tracks for Forza Motorsport 5 is a very good thing indeed, I think we can all agree. Especially when they're delivered as free DLC. Like the Road America track before it, Turn 10 is giving away another course, southern California's Long Beach Circuit, starting tomorrow.

As per usual with add-on tracks, Long Beach will be playable across all of Forza 5's modes. There's also a Long Beach Booster Pack containing five new vehicles on the way, although this is unsurprisingly only free for Car Pass owners. Those cars are: the 1977 Ford Coyote Gilmore77, the 1974 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale, the 1956 Jaguar D-Type, the 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG Mercedes CLK GTR, and the 1971 Ferrari #2 Ferrari Automobili 312 P.
