Four Mortal Kombat X special editions worth fighting for

Hot Take: Dying Light is loads of gory fun photo
Hot Take: Dying Light is loads of gory fun
by Mike Cosimano

Hey, this is Hot Take! It's another new Destructoid video series! New videogames come out all the time, and we want to show you what it's like to play them; think mini-Let's Plays. Our inaugural episode is Dying Light, the hot new Techland joint. There's parkour, zombies, big zombies, stinky zombies, and flying zombies. That sounds like a real GOTY contender to me!

Since this is both the first episode of a new series and a field test for our new recording equipment, any feedback is extra appreciated. (To answer your questions ahead of time: yes, we did end up going to In-n-Out.)

Techland using DMCA claims to take down Dying Light mods (Update)

[Update: Techland says it did not intend to create "obstacles" for modders. "With the recent patch (1.2.1) on Steam we blocked cheating to make sure the game's PvP system (Be The Zombie) would not be abused. This, however, ha...

Reptile confirmed to return in Mortal Kombat X

Yeah, like Reptile wasn't going to make the cut.  NetherRealm unveiled the lizard-like ninja in a trailer today, showcasing his scaly new look and classic moves on poor Kung Lao. Gotta admit, always been a big fan of that tongue and acid spit. Mortal Kombat X launches April 14 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Mortal Kombat X: Reptile Revealed [IGN]

Mortal Kombat X trailer reveals the return of a couple of fan favorites

Drip feeding out character reveals is a fine fighting game tradition. But this morning, NetherRealm cranked up the dial and mainlined a medically unsafe dose straight to the heart of Mortal Kombat X junkies. A trailer t...

Kung Lao shows no mercy in his first Mortal Kombat X screenshot

I'm not sure what Scorpion plans on doing here. He's in what we'd call a "no win situation." Kung Lao's fist is poised to usher Scorpion into a world of pain, and he's opted to imaginary limbo instead of fighting back. Maybe ...

Old Man Kung Lao shuffles his weary bones to the next Mortal Kombat tournament

Everyone's favorite Odd Job-inspired warrior will be returning to the bloody fray in Mortal Kombat X. Kung Lao's return was confirmed in the most recent issue of GamesMaster Magazine. And, as always, cutting-edge fashion will be very important to him. (I'll show myself out.)

Review: Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham photo
Review: Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
by Caitlin Cooke

Don’t let the name fool you -- this is by no means a Batman game. The Dark Knight may grace the box, but underneath its bat-enameled shell lies a Justice League game at heart. A menagerie of DC heroes and villains combined steal the show in this installment and take us far away from the streets of Gotham.

Despite this identity shift, the game still manages to provide a decent amount of content, features, and unlockables -- perhaps at the expense of more crucial mechanics.

Shadow of Mordor DLC goes hunting, vomiting

Monolith released Lord of the Hunt today, the first add-on pack for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Yeah, the $10 DLC has a lot of the stuff you'd expect: new nemeses, new challenges, and even some guy named Torvin the ...

This Batman: Arkham Knight trailer is disappointing

The first Ace Chemicals Infiltration video for Batman: Arkham Knight rekindled my excitement and, looking over your comments, I was far from alone in that regard. But this? Come on now. It's almost entirely scripted footage ...

Want to see new footage of Batman: Arkham Knight?
by Alessandro Fillari

After news of the delay back in September, the folks at WB Games and Rocksteady have kept all things Batman: Arkham Knight close to the vest. Thankfully, they figured we could use another appetizer after their showing at E3, and this new gameplay footage makes the wait even harder to bear.

In the video, we get to see the early portions of the game where Batman must rescue hostages from an Ace Chemicals factory. With his Batmobile in tow, he easily breaks in and gets to work on dispensing justice, but he soon learns that the Arkham Knight (voiced by Troy Baker, of course) is calling the shots and will prove to be a worthy adversary.

It's best to go into this without too much description. The gameplay for the Batmobile looks very impressive and I'm glad we finally got a Batman game that does the vehicle justice.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor looks not so good on Xbox 360 and PS3
