Guy beats Dark Souls with DK Bongos

That was a scary couple of minutes there while I dug through storage to confirm that, yes, my DK Bongos and copy of Donkey Konga have not vanished in recent years. My drum-whacking abilities have since dried up, though. Big ...

There was almost ice skating in The Witcher 3

Let's take a moment to imagine Geralt ice skating in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Ahh, sweet bliss. Over the weekend, senior game designer Damien Monnier told a crowd at PAX East about CD Projekt RED's canceled feature. "It was ...

Haha, really? Interplay is bringing back ClayFighter

Mere days ago, I hoped out loud that 2015 would become the year of clay for videogames, and now there's an announcement for a remaster of ClayFighter. Shame it won't be out until 2016. Interplay and Drip Drop Games (who?) are...

If this is what a 'rhythm violence' game looks like, I'm all about them

While watching this trailer for THUMPER, a self-described rhythm violence game from current Harmonix artist Brian Gibson and former lead programmer Marc Flury, I didn't want to blink. I also let out a confused "what?" follow...

What the hell?! Captain Toad has a spin attack!

Have you ever pushed through an annoying sequence without realizing that you were in fact "playing it wrong" and failing to grasp a concept or mechanic? I am guilty of this, but I'm struggling to think of an example newer tha...

Call this phone number for a cryptic Hotline Miami 2 message

The Hotline Miami Twitter account just posted this phone number: +1 (786) 519-3708 ext 10. I called it, like you do, and got a weird message, as expected. "We are 50 Blessings. Together we march ... into the future." Before I...

A game about Frozen's Anna giving birth

Another treasure from the mobile games space courtesy of former Destructoid editor Nick Chester. This one's called Anna Giving Birth and while I ponder what kind of audience this iPhone/iPad game exists to serve, I'll let the...

This Kaizo Mario World speedrun stresses me out

"This is what happens when a very sadistic person gets ahold of a level editor." Some of us get a huge kick out of watching strangers overcome the odds in near-impossible games, and as far as those go, Kaizo Mario World (or ...

Absurdly tough I Wanna Be The Boshy looks effortless in this speedrun photo
Absurdly tough I Wanna Be The Boshy looks effortless in this speedrun
by Jordan Devore

Here's speedrunner witwix playing I Wanna Be The Boshy -- a precision platformer meant for so-called "humans" who find I Wanna Be The Guy, one of the most challenging games ever devised, too easy -- for the charity marathon Awesome Games Done Quick 2015.

He pledged to donate $10 to the Prevent Cancer Foundation every time he died in this hour-long, 100% run of a maniacal game that requires pixel-perfect jumps and a hell of a lot of patience.

Here I am, 32 minutes in, terrified for witwix's bank account despite his mastery. Simply captivating.

Mad Catz' new controller looks like a Michael Bay Decepticon

I can't look away from Mad Catz' new controller for Android devices and PC. I just can't. The L.Y.N.X. 9 is meant to "offer a premium [see: $299.99; yes, really] gaming experience in almost any situation," though it's primari...

I don't know WTF #IDARB is but I want it

I've heard that title before, #IDARB. I know it's coming to Xbox One. But other than that, I'm clueless. Brett came into chat today wondering about it, and Nic said the game looked "amazingly silly" on Giant Bomb months ago....

Dead or Alive 5 headed to PC but it won't have online at launch

It's great to see a series like Dead or Alive finally come to PC. Less great, however, is that "Online modes for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be added in a patch within three months of release." I suppose it comes down to ...

So long, sub-$100 PS4s: Walmart adjusts price-matching policy

Thanks to Walmart's new online price matching, some customers were recently able to set up phony third-party listings on Amazon.com and convince the retailer to honor totally ridiculous discounts. For instance, how does a Pla...

I can't make sense of this live-action Sportsball trailer

This trailer for Sportsball -- not to be confused with Action Button Entertainment's Videoball; the narrator's delivery reminded me of Tim Rogers, a bit -- is something else. I feel like I need to watch it about four more ti...
