Dragon's Crown will feature some form of PVP

We already knew that Vanillaware's upcoming Dragon's Crown will feature raw four player cooperative action involving six classes, and a robust leveling system to encourage multiple playthroughs. But according to Siliconera, F...

Review: Muramasa Rebirth photo
Review: Muramasa Rebirth
by Chris Carter

Muramasa: The Demon Blade was probably Vanillaware's most uneven game. Alongside of the expected spectacular visuals, a beautiful soundtrack, and surprisingly simple yet enjoyable combat system, came a fairly uninteresting story, and a lot of repetitive gameplay elements.

Although Muramasa was great on paper and on a canvas, it didn't always follow through with its premise, which was disappointing. It looks like not a whole lot has changed in 2013,  because other than adding in some gorgeous visuals, Muramasa Rebirth on the PlayStation Vita doesn't change much.

The repetition sure is a lot more manageable on the go in shorter spurts, however.

Muramasa is reborn on the PlayStation Vita this week

Although Muramasa wasn't my favorite Vanillaware game, it still had the signature style of the developer, and ultimately was an enjoyable experience. It looks like I'll be giving it one more shot this week on the Vita, in th...

I'm down with Dragon's Crown photo
I'm down with Dragon's Crown
by Jayson Napolitano

Dragon's Crown is easily one of my favorite games of E3. It's been on my radar for years, back when it was being published by UTV Ignition, but I've kept my distance lately with the visual style controversy. I had the opportunity to really dig in here at E3, and I like where it's headed.

There's a lot more to this game than its polarizing visual style, so let's check it out.

Dragon's Crown fans the fires with new trailers photo
Dragon's Crown fans the fires with new trailers
by Kyle MacGregor

Dragon's Crown is still a couple months away from release, but that isn't stopping Atlus from keeping the unexpectedly high profile brawler fresh in people's minds. Putting yet another log on the fire, the publisher has dropped another pair of trailers to showcase the gorgeous PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita title.

This time around we get a better look at the Amazon and Wizard as they display their unique abilities and combat styles. Yep. Still looks as brilliant as ever. Be sure to look out for Vanillaware's latest on August 6.

Jimquisition: Objectification And ... Men?
by Jim Sterling

A common argument in the ongoing debate over gender and videogames is that women and men both are equally objectified. Is that really true?

As always, Emperor God King Jim Sterling puts His holy foot down and delivers wisdom true to the masses. He totally isn't smug about it, either!

The cover art for Dragon's Crown is decidedly safe

George Kamitani's female character designs for Dragon's Crown have received a rather surprising amount of attention -- that's ... that's still going on, isn't it? -- but at least for the game's box art, the presentation is fa...

Dragon's Crown box art is [insert extreme opinion here]

Gearbox artist slams Dragon's Crown character design photo
Gearbox artist slams Dragon's Crown character design
by Jim Sterling

The Dragon's Crown "thing" shows no sign of stopping, with vehement and sometimes venomous opinions flying this way and that. To bring you up to speed, Vanillaware's upcoming brawler features a big-boobed Sorceress, the design of which is causing a ruckus.

Now an artist from a completely different studio is in the mix, Gearbox environmental artist Shaylyn Hamm. To say she's not impressed by George Kamitani's mammary magician is putting it lightly.

"I want to see more women getting interested in games and game development, but stuff like this only serves to further cement the idea that you're stepping into a male hobby rather than something that is more inclusive," she wrote on The Escapist's forums

"Also, this is the first time I've seen that character and holy shit, ahahahahahaha. That's actually something that made its way into a basically finished video game, fucking lol! Some juvenile delinquent kid in my 5th grade class used to draw girls that looked like that (only without the creepy blank, featureless samefaces and wizard hats), and I think he was actually better at it. I also think he's in jail now. This is amazing."
