Best Independent Game, Best PS3 Game, Best Original Score. And if you ask me, they should also win Game of the Year. Three awards so far from VGA 2012.
Congrats to all the folks behind Journey. You deserve these awards and more.
If you haven't played Journey yet, don't talk to me.
Hey, even Jim liked it.
May 7, 2013. That's the official release date for Naughty Dog's The Last of Us. That's one hell of a long wait, but I'm pretty sure it'll be worth it.
Wait for a bit for the VGA trailer release. These screens show hold you over. Damn.
100 percent gameplay was shown in a debut trailer shown tonight during the 2012 VGA broadcast.
A doctor speaks to someone waking from a coma. Someone with a hook for a hand. A soldier. He can't move well, but is being guided ...
Obviously, we at Destructoid were all forced to watch the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards show this weekend. Shackled to our computers, driven by cruel taskmasters, we had no option but to witness it. In this casual chat from o...
If there's a marketing opportunity to be exploited, you can bet that Spike and the producers of the network's annual Video Game Awards will be there to take advantage of it -- no matter how absurd it may seem. I can just imag...
Happy Monday, Destructoid! In the event that you were too busy huffing ether to pay attention to the Spike TV VGA's this weekend, Max and I have managed to condense the only important parts (i.e., the trailers) into a simple...
Tonight, the Spike Video Game Awards ceremony was broadcast live, packed full of new trailers, game announcements and wretched, pandering humor. We caught the intriguing trailer for The Last of Us. We watched Miyamoto smile as The Legend of Zelda was inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame. And we cried a little bit every time Felicia Day or Zachary Levi had to perform some humiliating monkey dance, clearly demonstrating how much class we're expected to have as gamers.
So much happened tonight, here's a rundown of everything we witnessed:
You've likely seen the reveal trailer for Command & Conquer Generals 2 by now, so let's talk about the first details and screenshots. Powered by the Frostbite 2 engine, this one is coming to PC in 2013 by way of BioWare V...
If you picked up Tekken Hybrid last week, you've likely been playing the demo for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It's kind of a big deal.
The new trailer showcases some of that beautiful tag action, then brings hopes back down with the promise of a Holiday 2012 release. Keep playing that demo guys, you've got a year.
It's been a long time coming for Hitman: Absolution. This trailer for the game doesn't do much other than remind us that Agent 47 is very skilled at his job, but that's okay. The modern visual fidelity alone makes up for any perceived lack of substance shown here.
Note to would-be bad guys: waiting for your target to leave the elevator never works.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards Game of the Year. I knew it. I won't tell you what I chose as a Spike Video Game Awards panelist judge, but I bet you could guess.
It was a shame that the staf...
In conjunction with their being named "Gamer God," Blizzard unveiled the full, official intro cinematic for Diablo III. It's dark and full of lore. I've loved the beta, and this trailer has me pumped for the game's release early next year.
I know you're all excited, I won't even ask.
Hideo Kojima showed up to the Spike VGA awards to present his newest game. He flubbed up a bit with some nervous English during his presentation, but finally was able to offer up the first look at the new Metal Gear Rising.
Rebooted. Rearmed. Recharged. Rebuilt. Resurrected. Revenge. Return of the Ripper. The trailer was all about the letter "r." It was also all about cutting. People were cut. In half. Cars were cut. Huge robots were cut. Fantastic.
As you may have heard, Platinum Games is on the job. Polarizing? I bet. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about this one.
Zombies have been done to death (pun intended), but have we done cute zombies yet? Don't answer that. Still, Epic is trying something a bit less uptight and more fun with upcoming game Fortnite.
Even though it seemed t...
Slo-mo, dark, slick and dramatic as f*ck, here's your debut trailer for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, fresh from tonight's Spike VGA show. Explosions, bashing, transformations and fire breathing? So far, this is easily the best trailer of the night.
Who's down for the Fall of Cybertron?
