Tony Hawk is still relevant in Tony Hawk's Shred Session

Tony Hawk is back, but not in the way you might be hoping for. TouchArcade went in-depth with the latest skateboarding game to bear Hawk's name, and it's a free-to-play iOS game called Tony Hawk's Shred Session, available th...

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater originally starred Bruce Willis with a gun

Before Neversoft kicked off its tremendously successful Tony Hawk series, the studio worked on a PlayStation game called Apocalypse which had Bruce Willis spouting off lines like "Strap one on, it's time to Jam!" (And, befor...

Tony Hawk, Pokémon, Razor Scooter & Rise of Mana photo
Tony Hawk, Pokémon, Razor Scooter & Rise of Mana
by Max Scoville

Good evening, teens! Here’s today’s DTOID News update, which I’m turning into a weekly show so we can make more interesting things happen.

Do you have Playstation Plus? Because depending on where you live, you can get a bunch of fun free games next month. Do you like Secret of Mana? Because too bad, the newest game is a F2P mobile game. Are you into Gundam? Well, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn is coming to PS3 this summer. Are you stoked on Razor Scooters and Tony Hawk? Well, both of those things are getting new games, because apparently 2014 is the new 1999. Finally, Pokémon is hitting Netflix, and to celebrate, Nintendo is retiring all online play for the Wii and DS.

Activision confirms it's working on a new Tony Hawk title

Apart from the 2012 HD remake, it's been a while since we've seen a new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game. You'd have to go back to 2010's poorly received Shred to find a fresh title in the series. That appears set t...

My ultimate gaming tradition of Old School Day photo
My ultimate gaming tradition of Old School Day
by Taylor Stein

Gamers are a diverse breed. From PC aficionados and console fanatics, to retro devotees and casual admirers, there is no one-size-fits-all model of videogame hobbyist. Though we possess many differences, like game preferences, level of devotion, and platform of choice, we can all unite under a common flag of shared interest. There is one event, however, that my family celebrates. A monthly tradition that I believe just about every gaming fan can appreciate. I call it Old School Day.

Old School, Retro, or Classic Day as the name suggests, is a celebration of your personal gaming past. This holiday of sorts should not be compared to the feeling on Christmas morning or the anticipation of New Years Eve, Old School Day is simply in a league of its own. Whether you have been hooked on virtual adventures since childhood, or if you're a current-gen convert, the first experiences that characterize an activity like gaming are special and worthy of remembrance.

Exactly how the gaming festivity is commemorated is completely up to you. There is one stipulation, however, simply that a hectic work week, argument with the misses, and any other stressor of life takes a back seat for a few hours in pursuit of videogame nostalgia.

New speedrun bests Tony Hawk 3 in under four minutes

Impressions: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD DLC

The Tony Hawk series has had a bumpy ride lately. Although I noted my small affinity towards Shred in my Quest to beat every Tony Hawk game ever this year, it was too little too late: Activision had lost most of its market an...

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD DLC delayed until December

Tony Hawk HD now available on PlayStation Network photo
Tony Hawk HD now available on PlayStation Network
by Conrad Zimmerman

The Xbox 360 version of Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD released roughly two months ago as part of the Summer of Arcade promotion and everybody else who wanted a crack at it on another platform has been waiting since. Today, that wait ends for some, as the graphically overhauled skateboard game arrives on PlayStation Network today.

This would be my platform of choice to play Tony Hawk on. There are very few instances where I would select the Dual Shock controller over that of the Xbox 360, but between the more accurate directional-pad and the position of that d-pad, I much prefer it in this instance. Which, of course, means I'll likely be picking this up (again).

And don't lose heart, PC users. A PC version is expected to release next month. Spiffy!

Robomodo says that Tony Hawk HD 2 is a possibility
