Video: Alt.Ctrl.GDC shows weird new ways of pushing buttons
by Max Scoville

There was a wonderful spread of strange and interesting indie games at GDC, including a special exhibit called Alt.Ctrl, focusing on projects that made use of unusual controllers. Bill Zoeker screwed around with these for a bit before discussing what it's like to play a game with pedals, knobs, dials, cables, sleeping bags, and a receipt printer.

If you want to find out more, I dug up the websites for all of these games:

Video: Devolver Digital's Mike Wilson discusses the past, the future, tequila and porn
by Max Scoville

You guys might've seen the charming, casual, laid-back interview I did with Devolver Digital's Nigel Lowry. Here's the interview I did with Devolver's co-founder Mike Wilson, which took place several shots of tequila later and got slightly weirder. We discuss the company's roots, it's future plans, and where they intend to go beyond game publishing and movie producing. Porn? Sure, why not.

Farts 'N' Crafts: Teens fighting an Angry, Flappy Bird
by Max Scoville

Here's this week's Farts 'N' Crafts! I'm a little burnt-out following GDC, so today's topic involves children attacking a goose with a broom. If you'd like to hang this on your wall, you can buy a print here. If you'd like to make your own picture of kids fighting a geese, go right ahead and drop it in the comments here, or shoot me an email.

At GDC this week, I sat down with Devolver Digital's Nigel Lowrie, and we discussed what they're up to in 2014, between Hotline Miami, Luftrausers, and Bro Force, they're keeping busy.

We also got the world exclusive that the original Hotline Miami is coming to the PlayStation 4 with cross-buy support.

DTOID News: GDC wrap-up, Morpheus Vs. Oculus, Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4
by Max Scoville

GDC has come to a close, and it's certainly been a busy week for news. Sony announced Project Morpheus, their entry into the virtual reality race, as well as some crazy eye-tracking tech. The second Oculus Rift development kit is up for pre-order, Ubisoft announced their Frenchest game yet, Assassin's Creed: Unity, which might be accompanied by another AC title, "Comet." There's a rumor about Far Cry 4 involving yetis and elephants, and we got our first look at Borderlands 2 on Vita.

Capy Games' Nathan Vella talks Super Time Force, Below, and the IGF Awards
by Max Scoville

Literally the first thing I did at GDC this year was sit down with Capy Games president Nathan Vella and talk about their upcoming games Super Time Force and Below, as well as his hosting duties at this year's IGF awards.

Also, a woman in the background knocked over a lamp and broke it, which I thought was pretty funny.

Farts 'N' Crafts: Sonic hates his new design so much he's barfing
by Max Scoville

Hey gang! Here's a hot and messy GDC edition of Farts 'N' Crafts, brought to you by liquor and cocktail napkins, and also cocktails, made with liquor. Sonic The Hedgehog is covered in bandages and scarves in Sonic Boom, so I drew him barfing up SpaghettiOs. Because cocktails.

Dumb Idiot Ideas: Max & Ben's virtual Oculus Rift game jam!

The future is here, right now! At least, it will be, once we get the Oculus Rift for realsies, but what kind of games do we want? Ben and I make use of our old virtual reality devices: our imaginations! Also, electrical tape.

Witcher 3 delayed, Angry Birds gets Epic, and an Ouya game about Slavery photo
Witcher 3 delayed, Angry Birds gets Epic, and an Ouya game about Slavery
by Max Scoville

Everyone’s off playing Titan Souls or Darkfall or whathaveyou, so news this week is a lot of non-news. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt has been delayed, which sucks, but apparently won’t derail Cyberpunk 2077. Sony shakes its head and frowns on the subject of release dates for The Last Guardian and Drive Club, and apparently Watchdogs isn’t late, Ubisoft just told us about it really early. Angry Birds just took a turn for the turn-based, Halfbrick’s latest game is about a bear destroying precious works of art, and there’s an Ouya exclusive on the way where you play as an escaped slave. On the VR front, Valve’s head VR dude has gone over to Oculus, hopefully to develop ways to terrify stars of other HBO series, and Sony’s rumored to be revealing their virtual reality hat at GDC next week.

Also, check out this ridiculous Lil Jon video.

Today on Fart's 'N' Crafts, I'm drawing Godzilla and Big Boss fighting! Or hanging out. Or something. This suggestion comes by way of Nicholas Layne on YouTube, thanks Nick!

If you'd like to buy a print of this drawing, you can pick one up right here!

Dumb Idiot Ideas: Shaq Fu? How about a Love Actually fighting game photo
Dumb Idiot Ideas: Shaq Fu? How about a Love Actually fighting game
by Max Scoville

Man, you guys hear about Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn? That's a pretty great idea, but here are some even better ones, like a game where James Van Der Beek's head is a Hydro Thunder boat, or where the cast of Love Actually beats each other to death.

by Max Scoville

I'm sure by now you fine folks have seen the stuff I posted about Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, but I'm not done quite yet. Here's a quick rundown of what I thought about the game, as well as some responses to concerns you guys had.

Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie photo
Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie
by Max Scoville

Sweet Christmas do we have some great news about video games today!

Let’s see… My previews for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes went up, a new Batman game was announced by Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham Knight, Watch Dogs finally has a release date, and there’s a new Dragon Age: Inquisition trailer. On a less fun note, Mad Catz announced a partnership with Ouya, and on a downright depressing note, Disney Interactive has laid off 700 employees.

However, there’s a bunch of crazy weird news: Shaq-Fu is (hopefully) getting a sequel, Goat Simulator is going to be an actual game, and Akiba’s Trip 2, a Japanese game about punching vampires till their clothes come off, will actually be released in the west. Finally, a couple pieces of movie news: there’s feature film in the works based on The Last of Us, which seems sort of redundant to me, but that new Transformers movie involves Optimus Prime living in Mark Wahlberg’s barn, which is even more ridiculous than robot dinosaurs.

Farts 'N' Crafts: Batman's Giant Robot
by Max Scoville

Hey everybody! Here's the second episode of Farts 'N' Crafts, the show where I draw pictures of stuff related to what's going on in gaming. Today, there's a lot of buzz about a new Batman game from Rocksteady, and Titanfall continues to be great, as demonstrated by this adorable trailer and these leaked maps and screenshots, which reveal that there are alien dinosaurs in the game. Aren't video games grand?

Hey, did you see those Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes track jackets and sneakers that Puma's making? They're pretty cool, but a franchise with such awesome character and mechanical designs really deserves more creative merchandising. Here are a few ideas.

Tony Hawk, Pokémon, Razor Scooter & Rise of Mana photo
Tony Hawk, Pokémon, Razor Scooter & Rise of Mana
by Max Scoville

Good evening, teens! Here’s today’s DTOID News update, which I’m turning into a weekly show so we can make more interesting things happen.

Do you have Playstation Plus? Because depending on where you live, you can get a bunch of fun free games next month. Do you like Secret of Mana? Because too bad, the newest game is a F2P mobile game. Are you into Gundam? Well, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn is coming to PS3 this summer. Are you stoked on Razor Scooters and Tony Hawk? Well, both of those things are getting new games, because apparently 2014 is the new 1999. Finally, Pokémon is hitting Netflix, and to celebrate, Nintendo is retiring all online play for the Wii and DS.
