These Rosalina plushies are so cute they should be illegal

If I'm being honest, the main reason I picked up Super Mario Galaxy when it came out was to see Rosalina. Her character design has always resonated with me. I mean, the game is fantastic, but I think I now prefer Rosalina to ...

Damn, Mario! Super Mario Galaxy 2's critical acclaim

I'm already on my second play-through of what I called the best Mario game that Nintendo has released. That would be Super Mario Galaxy 2, the May 23rd Wii release that wowed me in so many ways that I wanted to make sure that...

Review: Super Mario Galaxy 2 photo
Review: Super Mario Galaxy 2
by Dale North

For me, when Nintendo released Super Mario 64, it showed me that 3D platforming was the future. But, because of the camera and other control issues that had yet to be polished, I wasn't very excited for the future of 3D platforming from Nintendo. Mario's outing on the GameCube didn't do much to win me over, either. It wasn't until the release of Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii that I felt like Nintendo had come close to successfully fitting Mario into a 3D platforming formula.

The combination of Super Mario Galaxy's polished controls and innovative power-ups managed to bring back some of the excitement I hadn't felt for the franchise since the Super Mario World games from the 1990s. And now with the release of Super Mario Galaxy 2, with the struggle to perfect 3D platforming controls finally behind them, it feels like they were able to focus on being creative. This focus on new power-ups, level design, and imaginative control, combined with some fun throwbacks for Mario series fans, makes for one hell of a ride and an even better game than Super Mario Galaxy. For me, I think it's an even better game than my previous series favorite, Super Mario World.

Or, in short: Best Mario Game Ever.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 bug found?

I've encountered what I think is a bug in Super Mario Galaxy 2. I found it by...dying. A lot. And I don't think this is a level-specific thing either. It just happened to me in world 6, in a stage where you use Rock Mario (a...

Mario Galaxy 2 launch party has swag and an old man photo
Mario Galaxy 2 launch party has swag and an old man
by Jonathan Holmes

Sounds like the Nintendo World Store's Super Mario Galaxy 2 launch party is going to rock. A man with cloud-white hair will be there, doing the voice of Mario and confusing people, because even though he sounds like Mario, he doesn't look like Mario at all. Instead, he looks like an older version of the mouth-sounds guy. For your information, the mouth-sounds guy did the voices on Mamma Don't Allow; a very important episode of the Reading Rainbow, which is a show that takes place on the hardest level in Mario Kart Wii.

Speaking of Mario games, too bad the voice of Yoshi wont be there too. If he were, the voice of Mario could ride him around the room and make him lick things while the mouth-sounds guy (who also wont be there) did the beatbox, then they could do a little dance. That would be so hot.

While you're at the event, sitting around wishing that stuff I just described would happen, you can take your picture with Mario and Luigi (no mention of Bucken Berry and Ala-Gold), compete for Mario Galaxy 2 prizes, and get some free gifts or something. The dark irony of all this is that this launch party starts at 11am, while Gamestop stores are opening at 9am on the same day to sell the game to folks a little earlier. Way to fail again Nintendo, with all your multi-billions and world-famous-characters and stuff.

Mario Galaxy 2 ad shows us how to make a good Mario movie
