Persona Q coming November 25, let's loop the opening until then photo
Persona Q coming November 25, let's loop the opening until then
by Steven Hansen

Persona Q, the chibi 3DS amalgam of Persona 3 and Persona 4 characters, has a North American release date: November 25. The opening is still amazing. The premium edition is pretty nice, too. Shadow of the Labyrinth has won me over since its announcement -- or maybe it's just the dearth of Persona -- so I'm pretty ready.

Review: Squids Odyssey photo
Review: Squids Odyssey
by Darren Nakamura

Splatoon might be getting a lot of hype for Wii U squid battling, but it is not the first game featuring a squid squad to grace the console. Earlier this year, Squids made its jump from iOS to the Wii U with Squids Odyssey, and it even blazed a trail for cross buy on Nintendo systems.

Squids combines two disparate gameplay elements: tactical role-playing and skill-based slingshot physics. Squids Odyssey takes the original game, the sequel Squids Wild West, and adds in even more levels, characters, and hats into an impressively large package. That said, the package seems better suited for mobile than home console.

Review: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (Patch 2.3) photo
Review: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (Patch 2.3)
by Chris Carter

The last time we left off in our assessment of Final Fantasy XIV's patch 2.3, I had experienced most of the tertiary level content, ready to face off against the big boss Ramuh himself in his true form, alongside of playing more Frontlines PVP and of course, more hunting.

Over the past week and a half I've tried just about everything there is to try, and I found that overall, it's getting people to do a diverse array of content -- as opposed to 2.2 which generally funneled people into a few venues. It's not the most balanced patch, but it adds a ton of stuff to do other than grind out end-game tokens, and I'm sure that makes a lot of former subscribers happy.

Risen 3's Demon Hunters faction sounds like the one to side with

First came the CGI trailer for Risen 3: Titan Lords, and now, screenshots. The one above? My favorite of the pack by a wide margin. Some of the others are oddly blinding. The game features three factions and one of them is ca...

Don't want to grind for those new Borderlands 2 skins? Just be patient instead photo
Don't want to grind for those new Borderlands 2 skins? Just be patient instead
by Darren Nakamura

Yesterday, a set of new skins and heads for Borderlands 2 released, featuring the Vault Hunters dressed as characters from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. As it was announced, the customization options would be made available as rare drops, but now it looks like players can expect to get them with a little more consistency, as long as they are willing to wait.

In a post on Gearbox's blog, Jeff Skal details how players can obtain the customizations through Shift codes. Starting with Axton dressed as Athena this Friday, July 18, a new code will be revealed weekly, until August 22 when all six Vault Hunters will have had their due.

So hey! Good news. This game is giving out free cosmetic downloadable content. You may now proceed to the comments to talk about how terrible a different game by the same company is.

Fantasy Life is one of the easiest simulators ever to pick up and play photo
Fantasy Life is one of the easiest simulators ever to pick up and play
by Chris Carter

During a hands-on Nintendo event, I was given the option to play a number of upcoming games -- naturally, I gravitated towards Fantasy Life, which I've been waiting a few years to see in action overseas. Developed by the famous Level-5, Fantasy Life dropped in 2012 in Japan (and sold very well), and we've been asking for a localization ever since. Now we're getting it, as the game is set to drop on October 24.

The concept of Fantasy is dead-simple: you have 12 "lives" (jobs, essentially) to choose from, which derive from three principles -- combat, gathering, and creation. Although there is a core storyline that you can technically "beat," all 12 jobs have their own sub-story, and every job can fight in combat. In other words, it doesn't feel nearly as limiting as other simulators, so you can play the way you want to rather than shackle yourself to a certain archetype.
