Driveclub is finally out, but Sony hasn't had a very smooth launch so far for Sony and developer Evolution Studios. Along with a multitude of crash errors, Sony also took the PlayStation Plus version of the game offline ...

Good lord, Nintendo gave Link a motorcycle!

We've seen a couple images of Link in Mario Kart 8 before but nothing like this. Take special note of the front of the motorcycle. So cool! Hope the vehicle's stats are good. As a reminder, the DLC is coming in two waves. Lin...

Stop being dicks, online racers

I wouldn't call myself a fan of racing games, per se. Dale's a fan of racing games. I'm just kind of a curious bystander that likes to indulge every now and then. I think they act as sort of a palate cleanser for me, the pick...

Driveclub's PS+ Edition having issues, delayed a bit

Driveclub's PlayStation Plus concept has been hyped up for quite some time. The idea of getting a piece of retail game at launch, even if it's just a slice, is a pretty sweet deal for Plus owners. But it appears as if there a...

Link: Open letter to Microsoft, Turn 10, Playground Games on DLC

Forza Horizon 2? Pretty damned good, right? Having to buy a car pack to get the most desired DLC car? Not so good. I have strong feelings of my own on that and other DLC topics surrounding the Forza franchise, but I can save ...

Review: Driveclub photo
Review: Driveclub
by Dale North

Driveclub was supposed to be a launch day title for the PS4, but it was delayed for a while, pushing back until now. We got our hands on it at the E3 following the PS4 announcement last year and thought it needed more time in the oven, so a delay was actually welcome.

But that was a long delay. So, how much of a difference has a year made?

A bunch of Disney games are now on Steam

Disney has added a number of games to Steam today and while many of them are movie tie-ins and not particularly great ones at that, there's some good stuff in here. Notably, Split/Second, a racing game with action set pieces ...

The Crew just can't catch a break

Ubisoft is pushing The Crew back a few weeks to December 2, 2014 where it will release simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. I'm not sure what kind of sales the company is expecting to generate here, bu...

Watch me play (and crash) in Driveclub before the game is even out! photo
Watch me play (and crash) in Driveclub before the game is even out!

Watch live video from Destructoid on Twitch

[Update: Shows over, but you can watch me play through again in the video above.]

Funny thing. I love racing videogames but I'm a terrible driver. In real life, too! Ask anyone that has ridden in my car. In fact, Hamza rode with me to lunch yesterday. I think I ran two lights, curbed, and cut people off in that short two-mile drive. Sorry, Hamza. You know better now.

I talk a lot of sh*t about others that play racers. And now, thanks to the magic of streaming, I'll have to eat some words. Whatever. Now they (and you) can see how bad of a driver I really am in my livestream of Driveclub, kicking off in about 30 minutes (3:00pm PST).

Sony is only letting me show a little bit ahead of the game's October launch on PS4, but it's still enough time to see me wreck. Watch me play through new challenges I've just unlocked in the game's single-player mode for the first time. See the shiny cars. Get a glimpse of where our upcoming review (October 7) is going.

Ask me questions during the chat and I'll do my best to answer them while driving 150MPH.

See you on the road!

If I made my own racing game... photo
If I made my own racing game...
by Dale North

With both Driveclub and Forza Horizon 2 hitting the streets this month my mind is fully in racing game mode. We racing fans are spoiled this month with two very nice titles, and I'm racing my days away in them. As of late I am this close to getting a speeding ticket IRL.

I think about racing games a lot. While I'm Destructoid's resident JRPG guy, I've always loved racing games. I've been playing them regularly since Pole Position (yeah, I'm old), and I'm perfectly open to racers of all sorts, from casual kart games all the way up to full-on simulations.

But lately, after spending time with Driveclub and Forza Horizon 2, I'm hung up on what my ideal racing game would be. Both of them hit positive marks for me, but there are plenty of things I'd change or do differently. And I have some ideas of my own that no one has managed to work into a racer yet.

So here's what my racing game would look like.

Review: Forza Horizon 2 photo
Review: Forza Horizon 2
by Brett Zeidler

The original Forza Horizon impressed us back in 2012 with its ability to incorporate what we already loved about Forza Motorsport into an absolutely massive open-world sandbox racing game, while not completely ditching its simulation roots and easing new players into an arcade-simulation racer hybrid. It also helped that the game was really nice to look at.

Playground Games and Turn 10 are back with Forza Horizon 2, and I am so glad they are.

EA Access adding Need for Speed Rivals, more trials

When it was announced, I thought EA Access sounded like a decent value depending on your personal gaming habits. That's still where I'm at. This month's addition to the Vault, Need for Speed Rivals, doesn't do much to change ...
