[Just in time for Valentine's Day. -Mr Andy Dixon] Fans of Ecco the Dolphin, Mega Man Legends, Duck Hunt and Advent Rising should head to Kickstarter right away to throw their support behind a new campaign for a game that is a spiritual successor to those titles and any other game you one time said you’d want a sequel to in a chatroom or comment thread.

Videogames and military recruitment: Part 1

From Teaching to Terrorism Videogames have been used by many professions over the years as teaching tools, often in schools to help children have fun while learning spelling or math. As the idea of the usefulness of videogames as a learning tool has grown, we have started to see video games being used for all sorts of teaching and training purposes.

How historically accurate is Skyrim? Part 4

There's lots of things I enjoy about over-analyzing Skyrim, and the responses I get are a big part of that. There are a pleasingly small number of people that misread the title and my intentions ("Oh sure, the game with drago...

Cblog Recaps End of the Year Recap 2014 Super Ultramax: Tournament Edition photo
Cblog Recaps End of the Year Recap 2014 Super Ultramax: Tournament Edition
by CblogRecaps

[Note: I cannot thank the dedicated Dtoiders on the Cblog Recaps team enough for all their hard work. Here's to another fantastic f*cking year! --Mr Andy Dixon]

Welcome to the Cblog Recaps 2014 Yearly Recaps Super Ultramax: Tournament Edition. Where all the recappers look back on the year's cblogs and give the community the ultimate gift: PAGE VIEWS! As with the usual mantra of the recaps team, each individual recapper is a special snowflake with their own opinions as to what their favorite blogs of the year were, or their BOTY. But if there's one thing we agree on, it's that you guys are awesome. But Phil would probably replace "awesome" with "dicks" in his compliment. You have to maintain after all.

Before we start, let's throw out some golden high fives to people who've earned it, whether from impressive engagement of the community or Herculean effort that's been widely recognized. Redheadpeak was mentioned multiple times amongst us and it's not hard to see why. He's both a guy we can have a beer with and talk shitty Steam games, while also being the trusted educator of our children who uses video games as a contextual stepping stone to open the minds of our youth. And that all certainly leads to interesting stories.

Rust Cohle's GOTY games for 2014 photo
Rust Cohle's GOTY games for 2014
by Rust Cohle Games

Another year, another series of GOTY lists fueled by fanboyism and cognitive dissonance. We all know the AAA games get their fair share of nods and stick shakes. That's why I'm here to tell the world what my GOTY games are for 2014.

Not that it matters; we're all living in our own linear perceptions, anyway. Our ideals, biases, telling us right and wrong. All I can give is a taste of what my mind perceives to be true.
