New Dead or Alive doesn't have a fighting cock, but it has a schoolgirl

I excitedly misread a Dead or Alive 5 Last Round press release that began, "THE FIGHTING ROSTER IN DEAD OR ALIVE 5 LAST ROUND CONTINUES TO GROW" Fighting rooster? It's getting bigger? My ears perked up. Sounds...

Mighty No. 9 developers show off a new highway-themed stage

The developers of Mighty No. 9 have recently stated that the game is almost done, which is good news for the gameplay and not-so-great news for the uninspired art style. But the porting process has begun, and they're rea...

Chocobo Racing, Triple Triad, and the Gold Saucer coming to Final Fantasy XIV in patch 2.5x photo
Chocobo Racing, Triple Triad, and the Gold Saucer coming to Final Fantasy XIV in patch 2.5x
by Chris Carter

Final Fantasy XIV is gearing up for its new massive 2.5 update, called "Before the Fall." The patch will be broken up into two parts. The first of which will drop next week with extra main scenario quests, boss fights, Wanderer's Palace (hard), Amdapor Keep (hard), more Hildebrand quests, an Odin boss fight, and a new 24-person raid called The World of Darkness.

Other parts will arrive in February and March, and thus, before the expansion. The biggest highlight? The Manderville Gold Saucer, Triple Triad, and Chocobo Racing all in late February! Go straight into the video at 4:30 for nostalgic music galore.

Every content update is really hefty, and provides hundreds of hours of stuff to do. Expect some impressions next week, and a full updated review after the second part hits.

This is the year I finally import Pro Yakyuu Spirits

MLB The Show is the only baseball game in town these days. Well, if you don't count things like Super Mega Baseball, which I don't. Not really. Not enough Yasiel Puig. Or something. It's the only Major League Baseball game ar...

Zombies again. It's what people know, I guess. Comforting, familiar zombies. With Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's first DLC pack, Havoc ($15 standalone, or included in the $50 season pass), the undead will don exoskeletons ...

Alien: Isolation's new mode asks you to sacrifice success for security

Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation is a constant struggle for survival, and maybe more precisely, a neverending search for those few fleeting moments when you feel safe, even if you know danger's probably mere seconds...

Grab some headphones and listen to this Hotline Miami 2 song

The music and gameplay of Hotline Miami are so intertwined in my mind that I'm hesitant to listen to tracks off the sequel's soundtrack beforehand. Oh, what the hell? One can't hurt! This song, "The Way Home, comes from Magi...

Kung Lao shows no mercy in his first Mortal Kombat X screenshot

I'm not sure what Scorpion plans on doing here. He's in what we'd call a "no win situation." Kung Lao's fist is poised to usher Scorpion into a world of pain, and he's opted to imaginary limbo instead of fighting back. Maybe ...

Review: Super Mega Baseball photo
Review: Super Mega Baseball
by Chris Carter

Like many people out there, I learned how to play most sports through videogames. By the time I entered various real-life leagues for baseball, basketball, and football, I had a grasp of the basic concepts of each, mostly thanks to classics like Bad News Baseball and Super Baseball 2020, two of my personal favorites.

Super Mega Baseball seeks to remind us of that retro arcade-like era of sports, where the games were mechanically sound, but more exciting than a hardcore simulation.

Sore throat pain strikes in our Game of Thrones finale! photo
Sore throat pain strikes in our Game of Thrones finale!
by Mike Cosimano

Through heartache, assumed betrayal, and borderline acceptable fight scenes, Mike and Will have made it to the end of Game of Thrones' first episode. And boy howdy, is it a doozy!

People actually die in this one!

Keep your eyes glued to Destructoid, because I've got a feeling Game of Thrones is only just getting started. And we're going to stick with it up to the very end.
