Is this where PS3s are born?

A brand new PlayStation 3 is shiny and impressive when unboxed, and you'd probably never imagine that the slick, gleaming black game console was created in what looks to be an over-packed car garage. We can't be sure if these ...

The invisible political commentary of Blacksite: Area 51

Eternal Sonata for PS3 will feature new playable characters

I used to hate the early Xbox years when a title like Silent Hill 2 for PS2 would hit, and then shortly afterwards a version for Xbox with more content would appear. Seems the process is being console reversed now: Eternal So...

What? No! Why?: Xbox 360 Rock Band's USB hub requires external power

While I'm sure the folks over at the 1UP offices have been enjoying Rock Band, not all is well. You see, the Xbox 360 hardware only has three USB ports, and Rock Band utilizes four USB instruments at once. Harmonix and Electr...

It's about time: Our 80GB PS3 Bundle weiner announced! photo
It's about time: Our 80GB PS3 Bundle weiner announced!
by Niero Gonzalez

I'll be the first to say that this was supposed to be a way cooler post.  The original plan was to do a video where we would hand-cut the ballots and put them all in the planters peanut can, shake them up, call out some names to see who we recognize in there, and then pipe in some drum roll and focus the camera on the winner like we did last year when this site was comprised of 50 guys making Halo penis jokes. Ah, the good old days.

This year it got complicated -- more than 20 people created duplicate accounts to try to sneak in extra ballots, people voted twice or three times in a given day to boost their counts, and other silly crap that required filtering.  By the time we got done accounting the proper list this week, adding the people we missed that emailed us their last minute reconcile we realized that it would probably take an eternity to cut the massive amount of ballots -- over 2000 entries, you figure 2-3 cuts per name ... ugh!  The old method wouldn't do.  So!  In order to finally send some poor guy his prize this Monday we decided to cut corners: We decided to let a underwhelming PHP script pick a random ballot.  We'll come up with something cooler in the future though, promise.

And the weiner of the PS3 contest is.... EVIL CHEESE!  You gotta love these avatar names.

I do not know this Evil Cheese, but I'm sure he will present himself soon.  Thanks to everyone that entered the contest and to Sony's God of War: Betrayal for sponsoring the giveaway.

We will celebrate this contest fumbling by giving away a Nintendo Wii immediately following this contest -- be on the lookout for that post coming up on Monday. We're also a little behind on a TGS giveaway -- we have a PILE of stuff from the Tokyo game show that you'll get excited about, win, and ultimately stuff in your closet and forget.  That post is also coming soon!  So many contests, so little weekdays.  Ready for one more?  Okay, but this one's a teaser.  Destructoid will also be giving away SIX COPIES OF JERICHO -- look for that contest popping up in our headline banner soon.

Other recent winners (Lair, Heavenly Sword, Bomberman Shirts) will also ship on Monday. As always, thanks for putting up with our growing pains (I know the site's a little slow as of late, we're working on it tonight too) and thanks so much for reading Destructoid.
