Review: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes photo
Review: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

Star WarsIndiana JonesBatman (later the entirety of DC), Pirates of the CaribbeanHarry Potter, and The Lord of the Rings -- arguably a majority of the world's largest entertainment properties -- have all been brought to life in videogames after being passed through the adorable LEGO filter by Traveller's Tales. And, well, they've handled each franchise masterfully and created some truly great games with each of them over the years. What could possibly be next?

I can't be the only one who's been dreaming since LEGO Star Wars that we would one day see LEGO Marvel make its videogame debut, but, seeing as Traveller's Tales is a subsidy of Warner Bros., it was seemingly never going to happen. However, by some remarkable turn of events (due to the magic of licensing), here we are with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

It's nothing short of a miracle this game was even made, but it's something we can only be happy about.

New releases: Monkey around in Donkey Kong 3D photo
New releases: Monkey around in Donkey Kong 3D
by Fraser Brown

For the love of god, somebody get me a 3DS. I made the unfortunate mistake of backing the wrong Nintendo console, grabbing a Wii U late last year, when I should have put my eggs in the portable basket. Now I'm not able to play the fantastic Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and I feel absolutely terrible.

Along with Donkey Kong, a few other choice morsels launch this week. Resident Evil Revelations makes the move from the 3DS to home consoles; The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing sees the eponymous hero hunt monsters in a gothic-noir fantasy universe; Call of Juarez goes back to its western roots in Gunslinger; and the Wii U gets a bunch of ports. Lucky me.

Anything making you short of breath this week?

Review: LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins photo
Review: LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins
by Chris Carter

LEGO City Undercover for the Wii U, despite a heap of technical issues, brought a ton of charm to the platform. The fully voice acted experience was not without its camp and cheese factor, but ultimately it provided a fun open world experience for fans who were longing for a new Wii U game to play.

Enter the portable version, titled The Chase Begins for the Nintendo 3DS. It tells the story of super-cop Chase McCain before he was, in fact, a super-cop. As a companion to the Wii U version, it had the opportunity to augment the console package, and possibly push the brand into new territory.

Instead, it's a step down in nearly every way.
