Soda Drinker Pro goes next-gen

You wanna talk next-gen? The next generation of games isn't about graphics or motion control or laser beams or whatever. It's about soda. Sweet, sweet b-b-b-b-bonus soda. And that soda is coming to Xbox One later this year. S...

Dumb Idiot Ideas: The Difficult Kinect Challenge photo
Dumb Idiot Ideas: The Difficult Kinect Challenge
by Max Scoville

This week, we filmed a wonderful short piece in which Bill and I discussed the lack of video games that let us play as actual animals. Unfortunately, Bill's microphone cut out mid-discussion, and the camera's face-tracking started focusing on an animated GIF of some dogs having sex I had up on my monitor behind me.

So, here's what we did instead.

Review: Kinect Sports Rivals photo
Review: Kinect Sports Rivals
by Chris Carter

The original Kinect Sports for the Xbox 360 did exactly what it set out to to do. It didn't set the world on fire or reinvent gaming as we know it, but it showed that despite some gimmicky features, the Kinect actually works -- for the most part.

And here we are almost four years later with Kinect Sports Rivals -- a souped-up version that's no longer just a free pack-in, but a premium-priced game delayed months after the release of the Xbox One.

As you can imagine, the actual results are mixed.

Xbox One's first major system update arrives February 11 photo
Xbox One's first major system update arrives February 11
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

The first major system update for the Xbox One will arrive on February 11. It'll have a variety of feature improvements, a lot of which will be for behind-the-scenes stuff aimed at developers creating apps and games.

For the consumers, we'll finally be able to see and manage our storage space. That, and download queues will be more manageable as games and apps will be put into separate lists allowing you to pick the order content loads.

Additional updates include overall better stability, Kinect voice command improvements, we'll be able to see the battery power indicator for controllers now, and users will be able to connect USB keyboards. Microsoft also teased more features to be detailed in the coming week.

Then on March 4, there will be another system update tied to the release of Titanfall. This update will primarily address improvements to the party and multiplayer systems of the Xbox One.

Playing Call of Duty with the Gamertag 'Xbox Sign Out' photo
Playing Call of Duty with the Gamertag 'Xbox Sign Out'
by Jordan Devore

Okay, this is a fun little trick. YouTuber Master of Luck has taken to playing Call of Duty: Ghosts with the Xbox Live Gamertag "Xbox Sign Out." In a multiplayer setting like this where players are prone to shouting each other's names and the Kinect is listening for voice commands, sign-outs are bound to ensue. Even when people know what's up, they still inexplicably say the magic words.

I like that everyone who fell for the prank seemed to find it humorous. I wonder if that was truly the case, or if a bunch of genuinely angry folks didn't make it into this video.
