This weapon never made sense: Man at Arms makes Squall's gunblade

It has been a while since we have posted about Man at Arms, but the series is still going strong, making real life replicas of fantasy weapons. The Reforged spinoff follows a different team of blacksmiths and craftsmen, with...

Final Fantasy Explorers will not have 3D, will have Circle Pad Pro and New 3DS support

Final Fantasy Explorers will arrive soon in Japan, and it'll come with a few changes that aren't typically in 3DS titles. For one, it won't feature full 3D -- I'm kind of 50/50 on it myself, so I don't mind either way. The go...

Hot new screens from Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD

Me? I'll take anything I can get from either game. I'm hype every single time something from the franchise comes down the line, so I guess I could be seen as somewhat unreliable when it comes to being fully critical. Oooh! Tw...

Final Fantasy Explorers feels like Crystal Chronicles meets Monster Hunter photo
Final Fantasy Explorers feels like Crystal Chronicles meets Monster Hunter
by Elliot Gay

It's become exceedingly easy in recent years to point the finger at any four player cooperative game in Japan and call it a Monster Hunter clone. I'm not particularly fond of this way of thinking. Despite my love of Monster Hunter (200+ hours in MH4), I think many of the various hunting action games have unique, interesting qualities that separate them from one another.

Perhaps that's why I had been so jazzed to check out Final Fantasy Explorers, Square Enix's first attempt to dabble in the hunting action genre. With a stable of classic monsters, jobs, and giant bosses in its long history, Final Fantasy seems like the perfect franchise to get a spinoff in the genre.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD plays as well as ever photo
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD plays as well as ever
by Elliot Gay

I adored Final Fantasy Type-0 when it first released on the PSP in Japan a few years back. It took me a whopping 75 hours to clear the game my first time, and while it undoubtedly had its fair share of problems (weird RTS sections, poor group leveling system, camera), I felt that the positives heavily outweighed the negatives. It's not secret that it's my personal favorite Final Fantasy of the last generation.

In what turned out to be a pleasant surprise, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD appeared on the TGS show floor in completely playable fashion, so I rushed over first thing to give it a look.

Final Fantasy XV screenshots from TGS are...uh

You've seen the trailer so now see the screenshots Square Enix handed me this morning at Tokyo Game Show 2014 for Final Fantasy XV. They're having a tailgating party. Car-b-que. It's a nice car, I guess. But the screenshots look nice! That battle one does something for me. The upcoming Xbox One and PS4 title has this new media, but that's the only thing you'll get out of TGS 2014. Hang in there.

Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer is pretty sharp photo
Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer is pretty sharp
by Alessandro Fillari

TGS 2014 is already off to a big start with the release of a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy XV. Much to the disappointment of many, it was absent from this year's E3 and gamescom shows, but the nearly three-minute trailer aims to make up for the lost time.

In this trailer, we get to see our heroes travel around outside of the city in a rather expensive car -- which by the way looks be to be fully controllable. Their trip down the scenic route shows off some massive wildlife and other foes looking for a fight. But our heroes are more than up for a challenge, and they even display some clever team focuses attacks.

It's a pretty sharp trailer, which isn't a surprise. Square Enix knows how to make its games look stunning, and this trailer certainly does a great job of showing that. With TGS already underway, we can expect to hear some more info about the state of FFXV, and hopefully when it will be released.

Stay tuned to Dtoid for more info from TGS 2014 as it's released.
