Fanboy Friday

As I told you last week, we're going to be looking at the drama surrounding the dual release of Final Fantasy XIII. Rather than focus on all the score whining, we'll just be looking at the console battles between the 360 and PS3 fanboys. Like I promised, it's ridiculous. There's a lot more back and forth arguing on this topic, so expect a lot of long comment strings and replies. Ready?

As I'm sure most of you remember, earlier this week the Playstation 3 suffered a little accident. At the time, people were understandably upset. You also might remember that a lot of the 360 fanboys were having a field day, c...

Alright. I feel like I'm fully recovered now. Let's get this show on the road. This week, we'll be taking a trip back to YouTube, but not to look at videos. Instead, we'll look at what people have to say about the recent rele...

It's time for another video roundup! It's been a while since we've seen what all the kids with webcams were up to, so let's check in. ...ok, I'll be honest. I haven't fully recovered from doing Heavy Rain last week, so I'm taking the easy way out and giving myself one extra week off from going through all those terrible forums. I think I've earned it. Prepare yourself.

I spent a long time this week of thinking how exactly I wanted to cover Heavy Rain. Originally, my plan was to just look at the lowest reviews and look at all the people whining, but that wasn't very exciting. It was mostly j...

It's always interesting when an older Japanese game finally makes it out West, as was the case with White Knight Chronicles this week. I remember hearing the game being hyped back when I bought my PS3, but I quickly forgot ab...

The biggest release this week, in my opinion, has been Mass Effect 2. (Although a lot of other good games came out this week as well! Solid week for gaming!) It's been getting stellar reviews across the board, and everyone I'...

It's time for the once-a-month fanboy video post! It's mostly what you'd expect -- a bunch of stupid kids making videos of themselves, and in one instance breaking some expensive electronics. If anyone knows what drives these people to publicly humiliate themselves like this, please tell me. Hit the jump and prepare to feel bad about humanity.

Many of you have been playing the MAG beta, and if the reactions from the IRC regulars are any indication, it's been decent so far. Not everyone has been having a good time with it, though. If random strangers on the internet are correct, it's laggy, it has PS1 graphics, it's gay, and it's for sure worse than Modern Warfare 2. Hit the jump!

I was happily browsing the internet this morning, taking a look at some regular game forums to see what people were talking about. I was expecting a lot of trash talking about Bayonetta, but I was surprised when the big threa...

Fanboy Friday had to take a short hiatus over the holidays, but we're back and ready to go for the new year. To help ring in the start of a new decade of idiocy, this week I want to look at a few of the upcoming titles for 20...

This close to the holidays, there's not much going on in the way of new releases. Instead, fanboys use December to argue and fight about trivial pieces of news. This week, we'll be taking a look at a video response from each ...

So, this one website has been doing comparison videos between the 360 and PS3. They've broken up the whole series into sections, such as one about games, one about CPUs, etc. So far it's been pretty balanced, with each consol...

In case you didn't hear, the Spike VGAs are coming up, featuring the fabulous Nick Chester as a judge. If you haven't voted yet, you can head right on over here and vote. While you're voting, take a look at the nominees. Do y...

You might think that this week would obviously be about Modern Warfare 2. It's not. I am so sick of the news this week revolving around that game that I couldn't bring myself to read through all the reviews and YouTube videos...

This week, we'll be taking a look at a review for Dragon Age. While there's a little bit of complaining about scores, it's really more about the bickering that happens between 360 and PS3 owners. IGN rated the two console versions the same, but Gamespot gave the PS3 version 0.5 more points than the 360 version! Who's right?!

It's time for another video post! You know the drill by now -- just random idiotic videos people have decided to throw on the internet of them bitching and whining about the consoles they don't own/like and the people who play them. Hit the jump and let's get started.

I don't think we'll be getting anything that will top last week's Uncharted 2 edition for a while, but we have some decent material this week to tide you over.I think everyone knew what was going to happen when the 360 versio...

You all knew this was coming. Despite the ridiculous amount of games that have been released in the last few days, this column could really only be about one thing.Uncharted 2.Let's do it.

My new addiction this week has been Demon's Souls. It's so difficult, but so rewarding. Last night I actually fell asleep playing it because I stayed up too late, and by falling asleep I ran myself off the edge of a tower and...

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story has been out for a couple weeks, but people are still talking about it. I've been playing it every night ever since I picked it up, and it's been a pretty fantastic experience. It also...

While a lot of times I like to show YouTube videos, what I don't often show is YouTube comments. If you're new to the internet, you know that YouTube commenters are pretty much fished out of the bottom of the internet cesspoo...

As regular readers of the column know, about once a month I like to do a little YouTube roundup of all the fanboys who are actually brave/stupid enough to go around making videos of themselves. It's that time again, so get ready. What's been going on on YouTube this month?Hit the jump to find out.

Hi everyone! I'm sure you missed me terribly last week, but now that I've recovered from Swine Flu we're back and ready to rock. This week I've stumbled across a website that got a hands-on with ODST recently. What did they h...

Hello friends! Earlier this week Batman: Arkham Asylum came out. It's been getting really good reviews! IGN gave both the 360 and PS3 versions a 9.3, because they never do separate reviews for multiplatform releases unless the game is fundamentally different. You would think that would be a good way to keep fanboy arguments to a minimum, right?Wrong!

Shadow Complex has come out. Shadow Complex is fun. Shadow Complex got a 9.4 on IGN. Predictably, some people have a huge problem with this. Sure, it's not perfect and it's got some glitches, but it's solid entertainment -- I...

You know what we haven't done in almost two months? Take a trip over to the magical land of YouTube to see what all the fanboys are up to. This week: ElPresador is up to his usual tricks, Batman defends the Wii, whoever is in...

The Final Fantasy games have a very rabid and diverse fanboy base. There are some who consider the games to be the pinnacle of RPGs. Some people can't stop jizzing over the games' music. Some people are still writing fanficti...

In case you missed yesterday's news, John Carmack recently announced that the current build of Rage, a game is still in production and won't be coming out for at least another year, runs at only 20-30 fps on the PS3 while the...

Alright, here's the deal. I'm leaving in about an hour to go nerd it up at Comic Con with some of my favorite people, and due to circumstances TOTALLY beyond my control, I didn't get Fanboy Friday done this week. Here's where ...

Another week, another game review. As I'm sure you all know, Battlefield 1943 recently came out for both PSN and XBLA. As is IGN's policy, the two versions of the game get a copy/pasted identical review, presumably to prevent...

It's weeks like these where I'm reminded how the smallest, slightest thing can set fanboys off into a spiraling whirlwind of bitching, whining, and (presumably) self-loathing. This week is going to be a little bit shorter tha...

Ahh, the 4th of July weekend. A Friday off from my day job, fireworks, parties, and fanboys. It's been a relatively slow news week for the video game industry, but, fanboys will still find something to whine about. If it's no...

As I mentioned a few weeks back, Wii owners have been relatively quiet. With the 360 and PS3 fanboys going at each other's throats non-stop, the Wii guys have been able to sit back and enjoy their games without being bothered...

Each week, Fanboy Friday takes a look at some of the most ridiculous, asinine, and unintentionally hilarious comments made by fanboys from a variety of gaming sites. With a couple weeks to process everything that happened with...

Each week, Fanboy Friday takes a look at some of the most ridiculous, asinine, and unintentionally hilarious comments made by fanboys from a variety of gaming sites. E3 has come and gone, all the crazy announcements are over,...

Alright, we're finally almost there. Having covered Microsoft's conference on Friday and Nintendo's conference on Saturday, it's time to wrap it up by looking at what Sony announced. After the disappointing response to Nintend...

Aaaaaaaannnnnddd WELCOME! (Sorry Dyson.)Here comes part 2 of our 3 part Fanboy Friday series! Yesterday, we took a look at random internet commenters' reactions to the Microsoft Press Conference that happened on Monday. If yo...

Each week, Fanboy Friday takes a look at some of the most ridiculous, asinine, and unintentionally hilarious comments made by fanboys from a variety of gaming sites.Well, E3 has finally come and gone, and with it came heaps o...

Here we are, the last week before E3. The last few weeks have been pretty thin on the fanboy ravings, if only because it's been a terrible news month in general. No big games have come out, no major announcements have been ma...
