inFamous: Second Son is $20 off on PSN

Now through September 5 at 12:00pm Pacific, you can download inFamous: Second Son on PlayStation Network for $39.59. Not the steepest price cut, especially for a "flash sale," but 20 bucks is 20 bucks. Worth considering if you aren't opposed to owning games digitally. Easily one of the best titles on PS4. And it's got a photo mode, too. inFAMOUS Second Son Flash Sale Starts Now [PlayStation Blog]

September Games with Gold: Super Time Force, Halo: Reach, and Monaco photo
September Games with Gold: Super Time Force, Halo: Reach, and Monaco
by Jordan Devore

Next month's Games with Gold lineup is among the service's best yet.

Xbox 360 owners who are subscribed to Xbox Live Gold can nab Monaco: What's Yours is Mine for free from September 1 - 15, followed by Halo: Reach from September 16 - 30, while Xbox One owners will have all of September to download Super Time Force.

Shame about the Xbox 360 version of Super Time Force not being included here, but if you're thinking of playing it there I'd recommend going for the Ultra PC release instead.

Play Garden Warfare, Kingdoms of Amalur for free on Origin for a limited time photo
Play Garden Warfare, Kingdoms of Amalur for free on Origin for a limited time
by Jordan Devore

Through Origin's Game Time program, it's currently possible to play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for free -- for a limited time, of course. Simply download either game and, once you launch it, the clock will begin counting down.

For Garden Warfare, which I cannot recommend enough -- seriously, now's your chance! -- Origin users are getting unlimited access for 72 hours, while Kingdoms of Amalur is restricted to 48 hours of free play. It's unclear how long these offers will remain valid, so I wouldn't wait too long if you're interested. Something to play over the weekend, perhaps.

Battlefield 4 is free to play for a week on PC photo
Battlefield 4 is free to play for a week on PC
by Jordan Devore

EA is back with another Origin Game Time promotion following that one for Titanfall. Those of you on PC can claim a week of free access to Battlefield 4 -- just add the game to your Origin library before August 14. The clock doesn't start until you launch the title, at which point you'll then have one full week (168 hours) to play as much or as little as you'd like.

This offer includes full access to the single-player campaign (don't feel bad about skipping it) and multiplayer, and any progress you make will be retained should you choose to buy Battlefield 4 afterward. Pretty good way to get your fill without committing.

Tempted to log back in after a long absence. Maybe I'll stand a chance now.

Wing Commander III is free on Origin photo
Wing Commander III is free on Origin
by Jordan Devore

The next free game in EA's On the House promo for Origin is the classic space combat sim Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger. Add it to your account and its yours to keep.

This is definitely something to check out for folks who are into Star Citizen and want to revisit Chris Roberts' past work. It's unquestionably dated -- the game originally released in 1994 and features full-motion video cut scenes -- but not so dated that it can be enjoyed today.

I mean, if nothing else, you'll get a kick out of seeing live-action Mark Hamill and Malcom McDowell.
