Dungeon Keeper is free on GOG.com photo
Dungeon Keeper is free on GOG.com
by Jordan Devore

In light of the negative reactions to the new Dungeon Keeper for mobile, this is too perfect. GOG.com is offering the original game for free in a 48-hour promotion.

Unless you already own the Bullfrog classic, there's no reason to miss out on this deal. It seems many people are taking the site up on the offer -- requesting your copy currently gives the message "You'll get your game soon! Minion, due to high demand, we will tell you when your free copy of Dungeon Keeper is ready via email in a little bit."

GOG.com, you can be my valentine any time. Also, Dungeon Keeper 2 is on sale for $1.49.

[Thanks, Eduardo]

Games with Gold: Dead Island, Toy Soldiers: Cold War photo
Games with Gold: Dead Island, Toy Soldiers: Cold War
by Jordan Devore

Microsoft's Games with Gold promotion is becoming a parody of itself. In February, Xbox Live Gold subscribers are once again getting two free titles, one that is the first installment of a popular franchise, and another that's an enjoyable but perhaps under-appreciated Xbox Live Arcade title. Those are Dead Island and Toy Soldiers: Cold War, respectively.

As ever, the first free game -- in this case, Dead Island -- will become free for Gold members on the first of the month. So, tomorrow. You'll then have until February 16 to download it at which point game number two, Cold War, goes free for the rest of the month.

You really should make a note to download that second one, though -- you get to shoot at tanks as an offbrand Rambo toy. It's pretty special. I also much preferred its setting over the first Toy Soldiers, so if you resisted it for similar reasons, consider getting the sequel.

The newest batch of PlayStation Plus freebies is amazing photo
The newest batch of PlayStation Plus freebies is amazing
by Steven Hansen

Not happy with a free copy of BioShock Infinite a couple weeks back? Well, Sony is showing PlayStation Plus users the love come February with a showing more engorged than usual.

Spooky horror game Outlast is free on the PS4 side of things, keeping with the trend of the best PS4 games being ones you don't even have to pay for.

Some excellent under the radar games from last year are coming to PS3 in the form of Metro: Last Light, Remember Me, and Payday 2. The first two are some neat, different games -- great choices if you missed them amongst the bigger releases. Payday 2 is also quite fabulous and hopefully an injection of new people playing the freebie will pump up the multiplayer element.

Lastly, Vita owners get Street Fighter X Tekken and ModNation Racers: Road Trip. I'll give the former a whirl, at least. Damn fine haul overall.

Curve's four game PlayStation bundle is a great deal

Looking for something to play on your PS3 or Vita? Maybe both? Curve Studios is bundling four good games at the budget price of $15. $13.49 for PlayStation Plus members. All four games are Cross Buy as well, meaning you get access to the PS3 and Vita versions. Not bad. The four titles in question are Proteus, Thomas Was Alone, Lone Survivor, and Stealth Inc.

Play Company of Heroes 2, Saints Row IV for free on Steam photo
Play Company of Heroes 2, Saints Row IV for free on Steam
by Jordan Devore

This weekend on Steam, both Saints Row IV and Company of Heroes 2 will be playable for free. If you like what you find and want to continue after 1:00pm Pacific on Sunday, which is when this promo ends, the titles are on sale to own for $19.99 and $13.59, respectively.

You surely don't need me to tell you these titles are worth the time it takes to download them, so I'll just say in the case of Company of Heroes 2 that all of the game's paid multiplayer commanders are also going to be unlocked during this free weekend.

Guardian of Light's free now for Xbox Live Gold members photo
Guardian of Light's free now for Xbox Live Gold members
by Brett Makedonski

It's time for another predictable but helpful bi-weekly reminder that a new game is free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. This time, it's 2010's Summer of Arcade title Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Of course, this offer won't be on the table once February rolls around.

The twin-stick shooter is held in high regard by most, especially fans of co-op play. Go ahead and give this one a download if you meet that whole "don't already own it and an Xbox Live Gold member" criteria. The worst that can happen is that you just feel the need to hit that delete button.
