Taito trademarks 'Pet Shop Mama,' PETA on high alert photo
Taito trademarks 'Pet Shop Mama,' PETA on high alert
by Nick Chester

With a number of successful Cooking Mama games already on the market and another title in the oven (Gardening Mama), Mama sure does get around.

But it doesn't stop in the kitchen or in the garden -- it looks like Mama might be getting some animal friends in the near future. On November 11, Taito Japan filed for trademark of "Pet Shop Mama" in relation to software and all manner of other things potentially videogame-related. What such a game would possibly have mama doing is up for speculation, but we have high hopes for kitten-toenail-clipping mini-games.

Earlier today, we told you about PETA's not-so-sublte attack on the Cooking Mama series with their "unauthorized" Flash game, Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals. We suspect Pet Shop Mama will be a little less, shall we say, M-rated.

E3 08: Hands-on with Cooking Mama World Kitchen

I like the Cooking Mama series. It's fun, easy to play, and best of all, easy to pick up and put down at any moment. I'm going to be honest though: I reviewed both DS incarnations, and as much as I liked them, I felt like I w...

New Cooking Mama feast in the works, now in 3D

YO! Sushi dishes up Cooking Mama 2

Like most DS owners, I carry mine with me for a lot of reasons: having a few games at my disposal during time in the doctor's waiting room or on a bus is a great way to kill time that would otherwise leave me fidgity. I can't...

Destructoid Review: Cooking Mama 2: Cooking with Friends photo
Destructoid Review: Cooking Mama 2: Cooking with Friends
by Colette Bennett

The first Cooking Mama title spawned everything from Mama cosplay to speculation that Mama was actually in direct cahoots with Beelzebub. While no one has actually been able to unmask her true intentions, Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends may make you forget about them altogether. Not only are there tons of new meals to choose from, but new people to cook for and tons of minigames to keep you in the kitchen.

Now, the question is, do the new features give Cooking Mama 2 the replayability to make it into a game worth buying versus renting? Can this game appeal to anyone over the age of 12? Is it the kind of delightful gaming experience that makes you forget your age entirely? Will Mama eat your windpipe if you ruin a bowl of Kimchee?

Come into my kitchen, if you will.
