The best and worst games of the week - Racing Royalty photo
The best and worst games of the week - Racing Royalty
by Wesley Ruscher

Oh December! You are by far my favorite month of the year, and not just because it's Christmas and my birthday. Your winter slumber in the games department allows me the leisure of checking my backlog list twice and knocking off some of those naughty titles I've been neglecting.

I'm not sure how the rest of the month is going to pan out for you, but you did deliver us another phenomenal racing title with Sony's Gran Turismo 6. And I'm really not sure how any one human can handle this, Need for Speed: Rivals, F1 2013, and Forza 5... but we all know Destructoid's racing guru, Mr. Dale "don't call me Peter" North has been gunning it full throttle the last few months. I think it's time for cruise control.

Now on to the week in reviews!

Valve will be making Steam controllers themselves

It's often said that if you want something done right, do it yourself. In an interview with IGN, Valve's Greg Coomer confirmed that the new Steam controllers will (for the time being at least) be produced by Valve, rather tha...

Yep, the DualShock 4 works with Mac games

The PlayStation 4 is still three weeks away from release, but that hasn't stopped its controller from sneaking onto store shelves well ahead of launch.

Shipments of the DualShock 4 have already materialized at certain retail locations. Destructoid snapped a photograph of the gorgeous new controller in its new habitat at GameStop this evening at a store near our San Francisco office. The retail price is $59.99 (discuss)

The DualShock 4 could've looked like an Xbox 360 gamepad

On the surface, the DualShock 4 we're familiar with may not appear radically different from its predecessor, but that's only where designers ended up. Along the way, the PlayStation 4 controller took some strange forms. "At t...

PS4 controller kind of works with PS3

Portal 2 and Civ V demoed with the Steam Controller photo
Portal 2 and Civ V demoed with the Steam Controller
by Jordan Devore

As predicted, my brain can't handle this demonstration of the Steam Controller.

I'm so used to the current twin-stick form factor that imagining what it must feel like to have a mouse and keyboard emulated on a gamepad using dual trackpads is bizarre. But this showcase of the controller comes across as strangely natural since it's in the hands of someone at Valve who's gotten comfortable with the input method.

There are more videos of the controller yet to come, and Valve is specifically asking for suggestions on what next to play. This video covers Portal 2, Civilization V, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Papers, Please. I agree with everyone who wants to see a platformer.
