Microsoft's E3 presentation will be 90 minutes, feature 'very few' execs

What happens when you apply the over-the-top seriousness from that Need for Speed movie trailer to Mario Kart? Magic. Thanks, GamesRadar.

The first trailer for the Need for Speed movie is here

Oh you didn't forget, did you? There's going to be a Need for Speed movie, and it's going to star Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul. The first trailer for the movie has plenty of cliché going for it, you know, the same kind of stuff you've seen from movies about racing cars before. Need for Speed (the movie) revs up its first trailer [Flixist]

Broken Age, Below, and more: The games of HORIZON

As previously discussed, Venus Patrol and MOCAtv's "alternative E3 event" HORIZON was pretty interesting both conceptually and in how it was executed. But what about the games?! That's why we're even here, right!? A few of the larger announcements to come out of the event have already been covered here at Dtoid, but what about those smaller, beautiful indie games HORIZON promised?

Teenage Pokemon returns this month with some new friends photo
Teenage Pokemon returns this month with some new friends
by Jonathan Holmes

[Update: Slight delay! The new season is now set to start on June 23rd, with an episode about depression and E3. That's this Sunday! Max Scoville as Spiky-eared Pikachu! Anthony Carboni as his trainer! Eric Stuart as Brock! Real talk with real Brock -- what could be better than that?]

Teenage Pokemon is set to return on June 21st with four new episodes. We're trying hard to make everything twice as good this time around. There are twice the storylines, twice the animators, and twice the voice actors.

One of those actors is not like the others. Can you tell which one?

As great as it is to hear a familiar voice, there is a lot going on in this promo beyond Poke-celebrity involvement. There is no way you'll notice everything on the first, or even second viewing. If you want to be a smart guy and cool guy, try to name all the Pokemon in the teaser. I'll be surprised if you catch 'em all.

Lords of the Fallen shows a lot of promise photo
Lords of the Fallen shows a lot of promise
by Brett Makedonski

Action role-playing games are usually hit-or-miss in the way that they're received. The slightest deviancy in mechanics can turn a thrilling affair into a mundane and unexciting one. For the past few years, From Software's Demon's Souls and Dark Souls have perfected this formula and championed the genre.

After seeing a hands-off demo at E3, I wouldn't be surprised if Deck13's Lords of the Fallen gives From Software a run for its money. If this happens, it's because Lords of the Fallen looks like it'll strike that exact same chord with players -- tough as nails, but doable once you slow down and figure out your approach.

Hero worship gone wrong in Hotline Miami 2 photo
Hero worship gone wrong in Hotline Miami 2
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number picks up after the events of the original game and focuses on two different groups of people you'll be playing as. While both groups are very different from one another, they both happen to be dealing with the same subject matter: Hero worship. The "hero" in this case being Jacket from the Hotline Miami, who has made waves after going on his killing spree against the Russian mob.

A new story, but that original brutal satisfying gameplay is very much intact. You'll be smashing, slashing, shooting, and slamming people's bodies into bloody pulps all to the cool tunes of the '80s-inspired music once again, and that's a good thing.

I met Keiji Inafune! We discussed Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z! photo
I met Keiji Inafune! We discussed Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z!
by Tony Ponce

Guys. I met Keiji Inafune at E3. I interviewed Keiji Inafune at E3.

I've achieved everything I've wanted to accomplish in my relatively short career as a games journalist. There is literally nothing else for me to do except pack my things and move on. I'm kidding, of course, but I'm not joking about how big a dream come true this was.

My meeting with Inafune was a complete surprise. Each of the Destructoid writers had been handed a list of appointments, and I saw Tecmo Koei on my schedule. I rightly assumed it was to discuss Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, but I had no idea whether I'd be speaking directly with someone from the dev team or not.

If I had known Keiji Inafune, the man whose work has had such a profound impact on hobby and my life, would be standing behind that door, I would have come prepared with a better list of questions. Nonetheless, I stepped in the room, put on my most professional face, and did my absolute best not to squeal like a schoolgirl.

Destructoid's Best of E3 2013 winners!
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Titanfall already took home our Game of the Show award for E3 2013. So what about the rest of the categories and games? Well after some much needed rest and relaxation we've decided the rest of the winners for all our categories ranging from best platform exclusives, to gaming genres, and more.

There were so many great games at E3, to the point that this was one of the best E3 showings in recent years. Next-gen will have plenty of hot games, but there are still a ton of desirable titles for the current generation of consoles too.

Congrats to all the winners and nominees!

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures will make you sad photo
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures will make you sad
by Brett Makedonski

"I think we have a demographic for it," I was told by a Namco Bandai PR rep. Let me back up -- mere moments earlier, he asked what I thought of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures; I returned his questioning with nothing more than a five-second blank stare. Fittingly, that blank stare was encapsulating of all that Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures appears to stand for -- an emotionless venture that's devoid of any soul or effort, and will simply be dismissed as an awkward misstep almost immediately.

But here we are, me telling you about a videogame that makes me twitch when I think about it, you sadly shaking your head at the shell of a character the once iconic Pac-Man has become.

Jimquisition: PS4 - Doing Nothing, Meaning Everything
by Jim Sterling

Sony created a magic moment this past week at E3, declaring for the world that PS4 would not restrict used games or utilize DRM. Power to the people!

Of course, it can be said Sony didn't actually do anything, yet is being lauded as a hero. Does the PlayStation 4 deserve special kudos for maintaining the status quo? Jimquisition thinks so ... kind of. In this case, doing nothing means everything.

Forza Motorsport 5 is set to lead the next-gen pack

We'll start by saying that what we were able to see of Forza Motorsport 5 was not nearly enough. Though Turn 10's next game is slated to be a launch title for the Xbox One this fall, they were only offering a sneak peek at E3 2013.

Still, what we saw was enough to know that we're in for something bigger and better with Forza 5

I ran around and then died at E3 photo
I ran around and then died at E3
by Jonathan Holmes

This was a historic year at E3. The 8th gen console wars have officially started, independent developers are infecting Sony like a disease that makes you feel awesome, the Xbone caught more heat than a Alabama volcano in the summertime, and Nintendo gave away t-shirts featuring a gun toting, leather clad, big-butt lady jumping in front of the moon. The times, they are a-changing.

Sadly, I went into the show with a bad respiratory infection. I was hoping I would feel better as the show went on, but that's not really how these shows work. Still, because the vocal minority demanded it, I tried to run around at the end of the show and do things. Thankfully, it didn't last long, thanks to the leather clad, gun toting lady from the t-shirt.

Thanks to everyone who interacted with me at the show! I hope you didn't get infected.
