Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie photo
Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie
by Max Scoville

Sweet Christmas do we have some great news about video games today!

Let’s see… My previews for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes went up, a new Batman game was announced by Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham Knight, Watch Dogs finally has a release date, and there’s a new Dragon Age: Inquisition trailer. On a less fun note, Mad Catz announced a partnership with Ouya, and on a downright depressing note, Disney Interactive has laid off 700 employees.

However, there’s a bunch of crazy weird news: Shaq-Fu is (hopefully) getting a sequel, Goat Simulator is going to be an actual game, and Akiba’s Trip 2, a Japanese game about punching vampires till their clothes come off, will actually be released in the west. Finally, a couple pieces of movie news: there’s feature film in the works based on The Last of Us, which seems sort of redundant to me, but that new Transformers movie involves Optimus Prime living in Mark Wahlberg’s barn, which is even more ridiculous than robot dinosaurs.

PSA: If you're looking forward to Ground Zeroes, don't watch The Phantom Pain's trailer

No new Metal Gear Solid V spoilers or details here, I promise. Earlier today, I put up my preview for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and in it, I wrote a lot about the game. I was careful to steer clear of any s...

War Has Changed: What's NOT in MGS V: Ground Zeroes
by Max Scoville

Dying to hear all the dirt but don't want to take the time to read my full preview of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes? Well, if you're not a fan of verbose explanations, I can't imagine you're much of a Metal Gear Solid fan. In any case, here's a quick rundown of some classic Metal Gear elements that you won't be finding in the latest release.

Breaking New Ground: Metal Gear Solid V's Tactical approach to Open World photo
Breaking New Ground: Metal Gear Solid V's Tactical approach to Open World
by Max Scoville

Considering that the series just celebrated its 25th anniversary, it might seem a little odd that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is only the fifth game in the series. However, if you’re counting Peace Walker, it’s the sixth, and the seventh if you include Portable Ops, too. If you're counting every game with the words "Metal Gear" in the title, it's something like the thirteenth game in the series.

Plenty of other game franchises would've retired or rebooted by now (and plenty have) but somehow, this one manages to consistently reinvent itself, all the while staying within the confines of the same universe. Ground Zeroes makes some of the most drastic changes the series has seen in over a decade, while still managing to feel familiar.

Farts 'N' Crafts: Batman's Giant Robot
by Max Scoville

Hey everybody! Here's the second episode of Farts 'N' Crafts, the show where I draw pictures of stuff related to what's going on in gaming. Today, there's a lot of buzz about a new Batman game from Rocksteady, and Titanfall continues to be great, as demonstrated by this adorable trailer and these leaked maps and screenshots, which reveal that there are alien dinosaurs in the game. Aren't video games grand?

Dumb Idiot Ideas: Metal Gear Solid ski gloves and panties

Hey, did you see those Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes track jackets and sneakers that Puma's making? They're pretty cool, but a franchise with such awesome character and mechanical designs really deserves more creative merchandising. Here are a few ideas.

Tony Hawk, Pokémon, Razor Scooter & Rise of Mana photo

by Max Scoville

Good evening, teens! Here’s today’s DTOID News update, which I’m turning into a weekly show so we can make more interesting things happen.

Do you have Playstation Plus? Because depending on where you live, you can get a bunch of fun free games next month. Do you like Secret of Mana? Because too bad, the newest game is a F2P mobile game. Are you into Gundam? Well, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn is coming to PS3 this summer. Are you stoked on Razor Scooters and Tony Hawk? Well, both of those things are getting new games, because apparently 2014 is the new 1999. Finally, Pokémon is hitting Netflix, and to celebrate, Nintendo is retiring all online play for the Wii and DS.

Farts N Crafts: Duke Nukem's Turdy Dogfight
by Max Scoville

Following up Friday's debut of "Dumb Idiot Ideas," here's the first episode of another weekly series: "Farts 'N' Crafts."

On this show, I draw horrible pictures of things vaguely related to what's going on in the world of video games. Today's subject is the recent news of Gearbox Software's lawsuit against Interceptor Entertainment and 3D Realms over Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, but more specifically on a comment made by Destructoid community member Red Morgan.

Got ideas for another stupid thing for me to draw? Leave it in the comments.

Dumb Idiot Ideas: I want Hackers DLC for Watchdogs photo
Dumb Idiot Ideas: I want Hackers DLC for Watchdogs
by Max Scoville

About this time last year, Watchdogs was looking like a major contender for my 2013 GOTY. However, here we are almost a quarter of the way through 2014, and I still haven't gotten my hands on the game, so I've been forced to entertain myself with my own stupid imagination. Today, my stupid imagination conjured up the desire to see Watchdogs DLC based on the 1995 film Hackers, and unfortunately, I decided to make a video about it.

DOOM 4 beta, Yokai Watch & Final Fantasy on PC photo
DOOM 4 beta, Yokai Watch & Final Fantasy on PC
by Max Scoville

Hey everybody, I’m back from Japan! And here’s your quasi-timely news update for the first two thirds of this week. Irrational Games closed, pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order gets you a beta for the new and technically unannounced DOOM game. Square Enix has trademarked “Shinra Company,” there’s a possibility of new Final Fantasy games on PC in the future, and in the meantime, Final Fantasies VII, VIII, and XIV are currently on sale.

Level 5 is getting me all hot and bothered by teasing a western release of Yokai Watch, which is selling like adorable ghostcakes in Japan. PC and PS4 owners will get Zombie Studios’ Daylight in April, and next month sees the release of Towerfall Ascension, the expanded version of the former Ouya exclusive.

Evolve impressions: How did we feel about the Kangaroos?
by Max Scoville

A couple of weeks ago, Hamza and I got a chance to screw around in Turtle Rock and 2K's Evolve. Hamza wrote up his thoughts on the game right here, and I got to interview one of the developers about the game.

But how did Hamza and I really feel? Well, watch the dang video.

This Jazzpunk communist breakfast cereal is amazing

One of the difficulties with comedy is that describing or paraphrasing a joke frequently makes it cease to be funny, so it's hard to convey Jazzpunk's charm without completely squashing its humor in the process. However,...

Podtoid 281: Rescue The Landlord's Blood-Footed Cat
by Max Scoville

This week on Podtoid, Jonathan Holmes, Conrad Zimmerman, Andy Dixon, and Caitlin Cooke discuss their latest gaming experiences, including Conrad playing Awesomenauts, Caitlin's obsession with The Price Is Right, Andy Dixon's daughter's shocking rudeness, and Jonathan Holmes' landlord's dying cat, and of course, dog maulings. Unfortunately, Max Scoville is MIA after heading south of the border to flee overdue child support payments.

Disney Infinity, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Kodoku & Bikinis
