California is not an island, but here are my Dead Island 2 impressions

You'll be able to explore Los Angeles, Santa Monica, some beaches, a golf course, and maybe even more in the final version of Dead Island 2. But what Deep Silver was showing at gamescom 2014 was pretty limited. I only got to run around a small, closed-off section of the Los Angeles suburbs. It was a short taste of what the Southern California zombie-slaughtering life is like.

These Japanese ladies playing P.T. are the best

Check out these Japanese ladies playing the P.T. "interactive trailer" that was released this week at gamescom. I think they're all hilarious but I love the face the one lady makes at 0:46. She's like, oh sh*t. Then, oh SH*T. And then there's the one lady later on that gives no f*cks at all. She's also great.

Bloodborne's HUD has dedicated healing items in their own slot

In a gamescom behind-closed-doors showing, we got a good explanation of what is going on in Bloodborne's HUD. That top red bar is a health gauge, and the green one underneath it is a stamina gauge. Nothing new there except fo...

Bloodborne's health regaining system detailed

A new system for upcoming From Software PS4 title Bloodborne was revealed at gamescom today in a behind-closed-doors meeting. It's called the Regain System, and it lets you recover health after taking a hit.  It's not as easy as it sounds to get your health back, though.

Digging deeper into The Tomorrow Children photo
Digging deeper into The Tomorrow Children
by Dale North

At a gamescom briefing today, Dylan Cuthbert of Q-Games showed off their brand collaboration with Sony Studios Japan for the first time. PS4 title The Tomorrow Children (temporary title) is quite different from Q-Games' other titles, but it does share their trademark creativity and imagination.

It's...pretty weird.

Here's a better look at that Sunset Overdrive White Xbox One

My Xbox One already looks dirty. Scummy, even. It's not just the fingerprints and dust in the grooves, either. I don't know what they did with their plastics or build or whatever, but mine looks like hell and it hasn't even b...

The Halo Channel is a thing (Update)

[Update: Trailer now included.] At Microsoft's press conference, right after talking a bit about the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 343 took the stage to reveal The Halo Channel. It's for watching "all things Halo," including shows, streams, and recorded play. It's like Mario Kart TV. Kind of. A partnership with Twitch for the channel was also announced.

Yep. Rise of the Tomb Raider, the latest from Crystal Dynamics, is coming to Xbox only. This was announced today at Microsoft's gamescom press conference. Note that "Xbox" was said, and not a specific console. Maybe it'll come to both Xbox One and Xbox 360. Whatchu think 'bout that?

Sumasshu Burazazu!

Because there will never be enough Japanese Nintendo game commercials in our lives. There's a bonus commercial below the jump. I meant to share it a few weeks back because I'm in love with the song.
