Go on a sniping rampage in Hitman Sniper

Square hasn’t been afraid to use the Hitman IP in fun and creative ways. Hitman GO was a critical success for doing something unique, and while Hitman Sniper isn’t on that same scale, it is still at least a ton of fun.

I made someone's nuts explode in Mortal Kombat X

I've always felt like the videogame industry doesn't feel right without a Mortal Kombat. So many games are always striving to be these serious affairs, and it takes something like Mortal Kombat to remind people that oh right,...

Dead Island 2 wants to be cool and kickass

The debut of Dead Island led us to believe that it would tell a very dramatic and serious story about the horrors of the zombie apocalypse. That’s not quite the game we ended up with, so it’s refreshing to know th...

No Man's Sky developers want players to work things out for themselves photo
No Man's Sky developers want players to work things out for themselves
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

No Man's Sky. We've been abuzz about this game ever since the first trailer was revealed late last year, and today Destructoid got to see a live gameplay demo showing off the amazing scope that the developers at Hello Games are trying to achieve.

One of the big things about No Man's Sky is that they really don't want to get too specific about all the little things players can do. The trailers and screens give some clues and all that, but otherwise they want players to just discover things for themselves.

We were still able to learn a few more specifics though, but just enough that we still can't quite wrap our heads around this universe exploration game.

by Hamza CTZ Aziz

E3 2014 is all about the games this year. The consoles launched last year, so now it's time for everyone to put up or shut up with their lineups that will make the new-gen worth it.

We nominated a ton of game s for Destructoid's E3 awards, spanning 13 categories. We even brought back the best fighting category as there's a lot of fighting games this year! We'll be announcing winners early next week after we've recovered from E3, but in the meantime you can see all of our top picks from the show below.

And remember, we also have a community choice award where you can vote on your favorite game of E3 yourself.

The new Lara Croft adventure is all sorts of fun with four players

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was pretty fun for what it was: a new take on the beloved character where you're running and gunning with a friend through all sorts of dangers.  Now, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is bringing that same formula over to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with the major addition being four-player co-op. Quadruple the fun!

Halo players will be right at home with Destiny's PvP photo
Halo players will be right at home with Destiny's PvP

Along with our open world walkthrough, Max Scoville and I went ahead and checked out the competitive multiplayer in Destiny. We gave both maps a spin, and we also checked out each playable class for the videos.

The biggest thing you need to know is that all the weapons you can carry in the main game can be brought into multiplayer. Even bigger, you can switch your guns at any time from your inventory while in the middle of the match. No grabbing guns from the ground, no limited loadouts, just whatever you have with you. Up to at least 18 guns!

I rode an elephant in Far Cry 4 and went on a complete rampage

You all saw the gameplay footage of Far Cry 4, right? Well I got to play through the demo myself, specifically focused on taking over the outpost (now referred to as fortresses). We saw how to take it over from the sky at the press conference, but I decided to take things differently by riding a big elephant into battle.  It was glorious.

I want to love The Division, but I just don't trust it yet

This marks the second E3 we've seen Tom Clancy's The Division, an ambitious online open-world RPG that sees a players dealing with a disaster after society has fallen. This is also the second year in a row that we could not get our hands-on with the game.

Instead, Ubisoft played through a build for us. First they showed us what you all got to see during Ubisoft's press conference (video above). Then we got to see the same area, but during a nighttime setting.
