Years later, Torchlight II is almost ready for Mac

You mean to tell me 2012's action-RPG Torchlight II isn't already available for Mac? Oh. I see. Well, props to Runic Games for not abandoning the task, then. Maybe I'll play it on my next flight. The Mac version of Torchligh...

More games need cupcakes as playable characters

I'm a jerk who totally forgot about The Behemoth's Game 4 despite playing a fun chunk of the tactical role-playing title alongside its narrator, Will Stamper, and loving every minute of it. So to selfishly put it back on my ...

I can't even play Demoman this well in my dreams

I've contemplated returning to Team Fortress 2, if only for a few matches, but I'll probably get my ass kicked. After watching this skillful highlight reel from Demoman player Kaidus, I'm sure of it. This guy knows what you're going to do before you do.

Cha-ching: It now pays to create content for non-Valve games on Steam Workshop

To date, some 1,500 users have earned a collective $57 million from Valve for creating custom in-game content for titles like Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Up until now, only the company's tit...

Medieval contraption builder Besiege looks splendid

Word of Besiege has gotten to me slowly, but now that it's here, I feel obligated to pass the message on. This is a physics-driven medieval puzzle game about building killer contraptions, like this ingenious windmill on wheel...

Presenting Lovesick, a game about projectile wedding-night vomit

I'm filing this one under "You'd be stupid not to cover it, Jordan." Lovesick is a simple, physics-driven two-player game for PC and Mac in which a bride and groom explode out of both ends after eating undercooked shrimp. Cla...

Nostalgia blast! Viz Media reprinting Zelda: A Link to the Past Nintendo Power comic

Shotaro Ishinomori's The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past comic for Nintendo Power (RIP) was a few years before my time. But, a quick Google image search later, I can confirm that it's as cool-looking and expressive as eve...

Xbox One sale: $10 Titanfall and Garden Warfare, $36 Dragon Age: Inquisition

It's much easier to stomach Electronic Arts when you're only paying a fraction of the original price, as is the case with these Xbox One deals via Live. Come on, latecomers. This one's for you: Battlefield 4 - $13.20 Battlef...

A free roguelike with music by Banjo-Kazooie's Grant Kirkhope? Yes, please! photo
A free roguelike with music by Banjo-Kazooie's Grant Kirkhope? Yes, please!
by Jordan Devore

I'm struggling to stop playing The Enchanted Cave 2 for long enough to tell you about it. Unassuming name and overabundance of roguelikes aside, this browser-based game is terrific.

You delve into a cavern in search of gold, gear, and experience but here's the trick: only certain items can be brought back to the surface. And you need a special item to escape in the first place. Combat is tile-based in classic "mash against a monster until someone dies" fashion. There's skill trees, crafting, and did I mention the music? It's typical Kirkhope. Amazing.

If you're coming in as a veteran of the original game, prepare for quite the upgrade.

Heh, Lucius II *would* release on Friday the 13th

I liked the idea of Lucius. Not enough games place children in the leading role, much less children who happen to be the devil's offspring. But good games aren't built on potential alone. In his review for Destructoid,...

Ghost Song is an unsettling Metroid-like adventure

Nintendo may not be working on a new 2D Metroid, but we've got creators like Matt White and Tom Happ out there filling that void with Ghost Song and Axiom Verge, respectively. I come away feeling like we're in good hands eve...
