Monolith has released a free Power of Shadow DLC pack for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Most notably, it includes an alternate costume for Talion that resembles the Black Hand of Sauron...

The Link amiibo will work with Hyrule Warriors

While Nintendo has mostly talked about its upcoming amiibo figures in the context of Super Smash Bros., other games including Mario Kart 8 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will also support the near-field communication toys...

Dark Souls will shed Games for Windows Live next month

There were enough worthwhile PC games tied to Games for Windows Live that I was willing to put up with service, which seemed to range from mildly annoying to downright frustrating, depending on the day. For many of us, Dark S...

There's a new Time Crisis and it's NOT for iOS

I would always go for House of the Dead above all other light-gun arcade games, but if I had any quarters left, I'd often put them toward Time Crisis; usually enough for a single round, which would come to an end with impress...

When you -- yes, you, person who sleeps in until at least 7:00am Pacific -- check Destructoid tomorrow morning, there will be three new reviews. I figured you might appreciate a quick heads up as these things can slip through...

I'm down for this Halo 2 Anniversary making-of documentary

You may have heard that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will require a 20GB day-one update, but did you also know that there's a documentary for Halo 2 Anniversary, one of the games in this compilation, on the way? (I hope...

Hardline: 33 - The Evil Within or without, Mordor as a dating sim, and the deplorable 'Hatred'

This week on Hardline, Brett, Steven, and Jordan talk about Shinji Mikami's latest horror game, The Evil Within, and Hatred, a game that's just plain horrific. On a lighter note, there's also a discussion about recent featur...

Missing EarthBound is my biggest gaming regret

Every so often on Destructoid, we publish a post celebrating EarthBound and, right on cue, I come away impressed. Whether it's Chad recounting an emotional, fourth-wall-breaking moment, Jonathan explaining the game's greatne...

Super Smash Bros. Wii U has a board game mode, stage creator

Amazon has a new description of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and, well, just read for yourself: "Whether you're creating stages on the GamePad, competing in challenges crafted by Master Hand and Crazy Hand, or outwitting your...

I am Bread is just delightful

How did that bread get up on the ceiling fan? Very carefully, I'd imagine. Bossa Studios' I am Bread is a game in which you literally play as a sentient slice of bread. And, get this, it looks fun! Challenging, too. The cont...

Bandai Namco is making Pokkén Tournament with older fans in mind

I get the sinking feeling it'll be a good long while before we get our hands on Pokkén Tournament, Bandai Namco's Pokémon fighting game for arcades (and probably Wii U). Until then, here's another quote about th...

Hah, remember Gex? It's back on GOG.com

Couple of things about Gex. First and foremost, the PC version of the original is now available on GOG.com. It's priced at $5.99 and should be quite the nostalgia trip for some of you. That's the main reason I'm writing this ...

Payday: The Heist is free on Steam today photo
Payday: The Heist is free on Steam today
by Jordan Devore

We told you way in advance that Payday: The Heist would be free to download (and keep!) on Steam for 24 hours, but the original date has since been moved up to ... today!

Claim your free copy here.

You know what this game is already, right? If not, it's the one about committing robberies with friends while wearing really creepy masks. Definitely worth adding to the ol' Steam library but it's also a freebie you might consider, well, playing. I know, I know -- crazy thought.

On a related note, Steam is hosting a free weekend for 10 games including the sequel to Payday. That promotion is live now and will continue until Sunday afternoon. Better prioritize.

Always bet on Ganondorf

"Always bet on Ganondorf," you said. I agree. Does that look like a face you'd want to mess with? And those teeth! Nintendo has uploaded a few more "secret fighter" galleries for Super Smash Bros. which you can find over here...

If you happen to have EA Access, I highly recommend playing Garden Warfare

I keep forgetting about EA Access. Perhaps you can say the same. It's a $4.99-per-month service for Xbox One that gives unlimited access to select games from you-know-who along with other perks like early demos. One of my fav...
