Due to the ridiculously awesome nature of this news, I'm going to skip the pleasantries and jump right to it: Thanks to the success of Mega Man 9, a new Mega Man game presented in good ol' 16-bit fashion seems like a possibility.
"Reviving the 16-bit game style in the series seems like a great idea," says Keiji Inafune in response to a fan-submitted question. "We certainly would like to consider trying it out in future when there’s a chance."
Having spent the vast majority of my childhood playing a Super Nintendo -- and continuing to do so well into my adult life on a near-weekly basis -- these are the words I've been desperately waiting for Capcom to say ever since we got wind that Mega Man 9 would be a throwback.
I think I speak for just about all of us when I say, Capcom, make us a new game in the Mega Man X series.

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
its as if you were reading my very brain when you said that.
Ditto.
How about now? Like maybe right now? Inafune, stop everything you're doing and START THIS SHIT NOW!...please?
"But we want to bring it back in near future if an opportunity arises. What I hope to do with the Robot Master Contest is to create Mega Man together with all the fans."
Imagine creating your own Robot Master from a robust Boss creation template. With elemental assignments to attacks. Think City of Heroes/Villians character creation for SNES MegaMan style enemies. Your boss would appear randomly in the games of people on your friend list at the end of corresponding elemental levels. Want. ability. to create. this!
Though I must say, I'm only depressed because of my games-I-have-not-opened to bleeding-with-fingerprints game ratio. So I have some time to wait for this. If it does come out eventually, it will be a day one purchase for me, mainly because I know it won't be very pricey.
Long live Mega Man!
Wtf you're nuts, MMX4 was awesome. Not to mention the Storm Owl level music is the most epic song of all time.
This news is very, very exciting!
I played the hell out of the MMX series. Especially 1 & 5.
Konami's been rocking the 16bit-ish style for the last ear or so of re-makesand retro revivals on WiiWare, Contra, Gradius and Castlevania all have some new entries 16bit style.
Also, Blaster Master for WiiWare kinda fits that bill, I gather.
Also, Storm Eagle's theme never really stuck to me that much. At least not as much as Armored Armadillo's theme, now that's something I can't get out of my head.
16-bit or HD-remix style graphics would be perfect!
Also, Tubatic, that, if was was technically feasible, would be an awesome idea. Though I fear many friendships would be destroyed because they kept being destroyed by more...phallic bosses.
Yes please to the game, now I am off to rock out to some most excellent Spark Mandrill stage music...
