In Sydney, Tetris is seedy and hangs out in dark alleys photo

...but no one is scared of you, Tetris. I mean, you're Tetris. Everyone loves you -- including artists.

This work, this group of huge Tetris blocks wedged (improperly!) in a narrow alleyway is called One More Go One More Go, and is actually part of an outdoor exhibition called Live Lanes - By George! You'll find these huge falling blocks on Abercrombie Lane in Sydney, Australia. Or...

Justin S's Flickr page has several photos of the pieces.

From a sign at the installation:

There are grand impications of error here that lead to questions, such as who exactly has been playing Giant Tetris? What are they trying to do? Could I have done better?

It seems that, given the dates on the sign, that this piece was up through January 31st. If you're interested in seeing more by the artists, check out the Gaffa Gallery.

It's an awesome art show. Complex but simple all in one.

I love the concept behind this. The world of Tetris, a random, yet completely orderly world with a constant set of rules, trying to fit in with the real world which is constantly changing in the face of time.

One problem I have with a lot of video game related art is that often times it's done simply for the sake of the video game itself. The audience is strictly limited to people who are familiar with the game. I want to see video game art that challenges the norm, that makes people think when they see it, and not just say 'HOLY SHIT MARIO FIGHTING SAMUS DROOL'.

I think it's one of the reasons why I don't do much video game art anymore. I want to create artwork that's much more than simply fanart. For some people that's fine, but I don't think I can live with that for too long.

the text on the plate is a bit weird, but I love gaming-art like that :-)

If those things fall and straighten out then I imagine the guy will end up paying millions to install new walls.

I'm sure they're both secure, and not as heavy as they look. In order to do any pop-art installations like that, you have to get clearance from the City, which involves showing them the final plan of the installation including the durability and security.
