Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

I'm still not entirely sold on the concept of real time strategy games appearing on consoles, but Tom Clancy's EndWar could be just the game to change my mind. Unlike previous RTS titles that have used gamepads exclusively, EndWar allows you to use voice commands to order your troops around.

As the above clip reveals, EndWar is essentially Clancy's vision of World War III in videogame form. As far as I'm concerned, there have been more than enough games surrounding past wars, and it's about time we see some new material.

Hit the jump for a demonstration of EndWar, if you can stomach listening to the Frag Dolls for about 5 minutes or so.

I'm sure it's early, but the environments are looking a little sparse.

I am interested.

I'm also interested in gagging those Frag Dolls. They scream midnight infomercial.

While I like that they're doing a new story that is more relevant to how the world is at the moment, I really would've liked it to be a game based on Red Storm Rising

This is the one time I'm glad Flash won't let me hear audio in videos. The game looks like a lite version of World In Conflict, which was already a lite RTS... Maybe a rental.

Voice commands for troops... should make having phone conversations while playing games a bit awkward... just one more way for gamers to be disconnected from the world... I like it.

Player 1:"All Units attack Foxtrot"
Player 2:"All Units attack Foxtrot"
Player 3:"All Units attack Foxtrot"
Player 4:"All Units attack Foxtrot"
Player 5:"All Units attack Foxtrot"

then wait... MP-match completed...

damn I was really exited about this game, but this just seems what these wars are gonna go to... have to say this is a bit of a dissapointment, I hope it gets deeper, but we'll have to wait the demo/review for that...

Not a big fan of the fragdolls. Met them on a number of occasions. They aren't very good, but EndWar looks awesome. I agree with the fact that I hate RTS on console so this better be good.

Jesus fucking Christ, after watching that I feel like pulling my ears off.

Did they say "Hey, we've got this feature to do on a game that primarily uses voice command - let's get THE ABSOLUTELY MOST irritating people we can think of to report on it"?

This game just keeps on disappointing, guess when you implement voice comms you can't get too complex though, wouldn't wanna be sat there with the manual memorising 500 different commands before being able to go online. Or maybe it's just that the bimbos could only remember 2 commands.

"wouldn't wanna be sat there with the manual memorising 500 different commands before being able to go online"

When you speak, new commands pop up. You can see the menus dropping down in the video as you say key words.

The game seemed to have a lot of
"All Units attack Foxtrot"
"All Units attack Foxtrot"
"All Units attack Foxtrot"
"All Units attack Foxtrot"
"All Units attack Foxtrot"

Right, I get it now - there's still quite a few glitches with the voice command aspect so they had to choose the fragdolls because everyone knows they would only ever bark simple commands at the game and never anything smart, right?

Communists devise a scheme to take over a generic industrial compound for ransom. The movie ends with a mildly comical and/or ironic scene in which the Communists blow up or go to prison.
