Deep Down detailsIn-depth details of Capcom's PS4 exclusive Deep Down photo

We finally got a look at Capcom's mysterious Deep Down. The PS4 exclusive was first shown off when Sony announced its new console. Following a gameplay demonstration, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono showed another three people, one on each screen, actually battling the dragon shown off in the game's launch trailer. This fight will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show.

Other details raise as many questions as they answer. "Content of the map is automatically generated," for example. Weapons and monsters, too.

As for the story, Deep Down takes place 2094 in New York City. I know, right? There seems to be an Assassin's Creed Desmond style deal. You play as a person who "reads memories from past items," which gives you hints as you "embark to solve  mysteries." You're a memory archaeologist, of sorts.

It seems like Dark Souls with an online co-op focus and Assassin's Creed trappings. Interested in hearing more from TGS, Are you down?

Ah, there's our Deep Down E3 2014 trailer

There was no mention of Deep Down during the free-to-play segment of Sony's E3 press conference, much to our concern. The game is still alive and well, however -- just not here in the West. Capcom hasn't made any announcemen...more

This Deep Down trailer has plenty of action

Deep Down is coming along nicely, and now you can get a better look at some of the more terrifying creatures in the game. That includes a Mimic treasure chest monster, giant abominations, and tiny gross slug monsters. Everything is looking great so far, and as a Souls fan, I can't wait to give it a try at some point. Hopefully it'll be localized sometime this year.more

Tighten up those graphics: Deep Down delayed in Japan

Deep Down trademarked for North America and Europe

Deep Down can theoretically produce infinite dungeons

I still can't grasp the concept of Capcom making a free-to-play dungeon crawler in the same vein as Demon's/Dark Souls, but here we are with Deep Down, which is currently in development for the PS4. Things seem to be going we...more

Deep Down is a free-to-play title

Capcom's upcoming next gen title Deep Down is a free-to-play title. Yeeeeeeep. Announced today at Tokyo Game Show, this PS4 game will see a public beta in February in Japan. Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed this on Twitter, and now that tweet is bouncing around the universe, falling on confused ears. That...that is... Wow. But from what I saw this week I'll likely pay. Maybe.more
