In case you missed it: Lumines now available on PC photo

For those of you who haven't purchased or played Q Entertainment's nastily addictive puzzler Lumines on the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, Xbox Live Arcade, or mobile phone, we've got the thing for you: Lumines on the PC.

Available today from Wild Games, the PC version of Lumines will run you $19.99. The game appears to have skins and songs from the PSP games, Lumines 2. But if that's not your thing, the PC version also contains a "Skin Edit" mode, which could yield some interesting results from a dedicated community.

The game supports keyboard and mouse, but the thought of playing Lumines like that makes my fingers and head hurt. If you have a PSP, your best bet is likely to skip this version and pick up the original, which (if you can find it) you can get used for a relatively low price. Or better yet, skip this game altogether. It's not that the game isn't great ... it's actually fantastic. But it's more addictive than cocaine, and as bad for your eyes as a solar eclipse. Oh, who am I kidding -- I'm playing this game on every format known to man.

Everyone keeps singing this game's praises, but when I played it on Live Arcade, I thought it was terrible, but maybe I just didn't understand it. :P

Is it worth it to get the two PSP versions if you get the XLBA version? Or how about the PS2 version over the first PSP version?

The first one for the PSP is the best. The music sucks in the second one, imo. haven't played the ps2 or xbla versions.
Bottom line Lumines one is the only version you'll NEED.

Sorry for the double post, I just wanted to note that Q or Ubisoft should do some work to make this more colorblind friendly... I have always wanted to say something about that.

Obviously the first Lumines is the best. It's a shame most of those songs (especially Shinin.) don't make an appearance outside of it. (especially Shinin.)

the XBLA version is decent. most of the original skins from Lumines 1 either got better or worse (The Spy who loved me, one of my favorites, actually is better whereas that card one got botched to some random skin.) so it's a 50/50 on the xbla.

I played a little bit of Lumines 2 but it wasn't like I was so crazy over it after they tried to add mainstream songs. I kept imagining them putting in 50 Cent's "In da club" with the constant repeating of "go go go go go" until you made a combo.

This game has been passed around more than a hooker in Mardi Gras. How many more formats is this game going to come to. Wait...cell phones..right?

If it has "Go to a Toy Town." I'm buying it. Again. No questions asked.

I loved this game, but actually just played it on XBLA. Too bad it was a blatant kick in my royal nuts to pay for it and discover, afterwards, that 99% of the game modes had to be purchased separately. That was my first and last purchase in XBLA to this date.

So, I hope for $20 you get all the game modes imaginable, yes?

I really loved Lumines when I first played it on a friend's PSP and I later bought Lumines Plus for the PS2 (it was the best I could do, not owning a PSP at the time). When I got my 360, I bought Lumines Live along with most of the other packs.

I don't really play as much anymore because the game is EXTREMELY easy if you use the tower method or whatever it's called. The only way you can fail is if you mess up. Gets kinda boring that way. :/
