Even though Mass Effect doesn't actually contain any full-on nudity or graphic displays of sexuality, we still like it. So when the "Bring Down the Sky" downloadable content pack was announced, we were thrilled to continue our adventures. Set for release on March 10, the pack will contain an additional 90 minutes worth of gameplay. Cool beans.
For those who have already played through Mass Effect, though, now might be a good time to start playing again. BioWare's Ray Muzyka has confirmed to MTV's Steven Totilo that players wlil have to [spoiler alert!?] play past the game's opening Eden Prime and Citadel sequences to access the new DLC. Once you unlock the game's galactic map, the new missions will appear. In short, you're going to have to sit through a few hours worth of gameplay before you can get to the new, juicy stuff.
So is this a huge deal? Considering the scope and style of Mass Effect, it's hard to imagine them doing this any other way. Bethesda Softworks had a different approach with their Oblivion DLC (once downloaded, it was usually simply a matter of "finding" that new content in the game's world), but that game works a bit differently with its open world.
Is something like this going to turn you off from picking up the DLC? Or will you veteran Mass Effect players happily work through the game's opening hours to check out your new content?
Im just glad I have a reason to start the adept class now.
Fuck Fox News Channel!
I can see how this can be sort of annoying, but like someone else said, if you skip the beginning side quests than it probably is around an hour play.
I still need to complete it on Insanity.
And the DLC gets inserted into a portion of the middle of the game? This smacks of withheld story lines from the original game, and kind of hokey. DLC should be a continuation where we left off, not some side quest that just gets haphazardly grafted into the old game.
Then again, screw all that and give us Korriban/Kashyyyk DLC instead!
I got the 360 on release day too, i've just never seen ANYTHING that would result in me buying points, well Rez if I didn't have it on DC or Puzzle Quest if I didn't have it on PSP I suppose would be exceptions.
Even if it was free I wouldn't download it. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how people thought the game had a good story. :p
on a side note if i had already played the game chances are i wouldnt care about this just because i usually hate going thru RPG'S twice extra content or not.once its beaten its beaten....minus chrono trigger.
Honestly, if anyone has a problem with that... you suck.
No, your character gets put back at the beginning.
@Eschatos: Oblivion is not a trilogy first off, and second its an open world game , unlike ME.
You can access the DLC by loading any save game where you have control of the Normandy.
Creating a new game and advancing past the citadel is not required, it's a remedy if you don't have such a save available.
Can't wait to see future DLC for Mass Effect.
