Just about any hardcore fan of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series would probably sacrifice their first born child to see a well-made Persona movie. Leave it to the seemingly endless power of the Dtoid community to make the next best thing: community member sylphx recently posted his own take on what the trailer for such a film would actually look like, and it looks pretty damned good, actually. Go see it after the jump.
sylphx is a 4th year media arts major at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary and isa longtime JRPG fan. The Persona trailer is his graduation project -- I wish I had something as cool as this to present as my final project back when I was in college! Would you check out a Persona film, or would you be afraid that like most films made based on games, it would end up totally slaughtering the concept?
I continually see really good game to film adaptions done by people that arent working hand in hand with hollywood. I think this and the Half Life short are the hope and dreams of video game films.
Amazing SFX for an student effort. Still, I think he missed a trick by not using the iconic gunshot to the head and smashing glass for blood summon ritual. That is an amazing image. Still, likely if he had he'd be in jail he'd be locked up by people thinking he was the next Eric Harris.
I didn't think I would like this, but the special effects ARE pretty fucking amazing. I really liked the effects for the Persona, although as everyone has said I really do think somebody else should have played the role of the student(He looks too old to be in highschool). Sorry guy. :(
I really like the special effects, but there's lots of other little things that could be done better. I don't mind using tarot cards or a western-styled school, but yeah the actor just doesn't fit.
Great job dude. Those special effects are killer. Though I gotta agree with everyone here that the guy just does not fit with the whole "Persona image". He needs to be more pimptastic.
Good for what it is, but the fun of Persona games for me isn't the seriousness of it. It's the fun times you have social linking and experimenting around with fuses and then having it all pay off once you finally battle again. Not really movie material.
A very useful and informative article about Games indeed. It is great to have such a nice articles about the different games. I hope to see more articles in future

Or totally drive a train through you because you used their intellectual property without permission. =P
And the dude is supposed to whisper the incantation.
Why is no one green lighting this shit.
It was really awesome, makes me want more T_T
The pacing is terrible, and his acting is even worse. Someone said in a earlier comment that he's a film student. I find that very hard to believe.
BTW Excellent trailer.
