Image on Rockstar Social Club could be a hint at unexpected GTA IV DLC photo

An image that has appeared on the Rockstar Social Club Web site is hinting at some curious events that may take place in Liberty City.

The image shows a quarantine sign -- presumably on the fence surrounding the in-game Eugenics, Inc. compound in Grand Theft Auto IV's Liberty City -- warning of the outbreak of a contagious disease. This particular location (sans sign) can be found in the game world, yet it doesn't play any role in the game. There is some speculation that this could tie into the the upcoming GTA IV DLC, which Microsoft has confirmed should be available this fall.

The thought of a contagious outbreak brings to mind a few scenarios, the first of which is a mind-blowing proposition: a zombie-like, 28 Days Later-inspired outbreak in Liberty City (a zombie skin is already unlockable in GTA IV's multiplayer mode). It's wild, for sure, but the possibilities are mouth-watering and exciting, to say the least.

that sounds pretty tight, but where is it in the game?

If they make GTAIV into a zombie game, I may actually want to play it.

That's saying a lot.

I find this interesting, although perhaps not in a good way.

I bought the PS3 version knowing the 360 version would have exclusive DLC. I assumed that I would not care about said DLC.

But if a zombie expansion had been promised before the game released I would have bought the 360 version.

Sounds cool and if it is true I might be a little jealous...but then I'll just look down at my copy of Left 4 Dead and laugh at this.

They've just put an infectious zombie plage in WoW, this seems like a natural direction.

I had totally already written off the DLC for GTA4 as pointless and I wasn't going to buy it.

If this information pans out. HELL YEAH!

I haven't touched the game in months, but I definitely would for some zombie action.

That probably won't happen, though.

Zombie outbreak in Liberty City? That would be seven shades of Awesome! But I doubt it'll happen.

Saints Row 2 "Zombie Uprising" is all I can think of while reading this. Whatever happened to the rumors of San Andreas being added to GTA IV via the DLC?

I for one embrace the coming Zombie apocalypse, Dead Rising, WoW, Left4Dead and now GTA4. I say if you can cram a zombie in it... then cram a fucking zombie in it.

Hell yes!

I remember right after the zombie mode was announced for Saints Row 2, everyone started saying "Rockstar had better put zombies in the DLC!"

I'm praying that they listened.

That would be awesome. I think the guys on the late GFW radio were hoping that the dlc would be something like that.

Wow, talking with my brother months ago about "what can you do after GTA4?" considering just moving to Chicago or LA wouldn't be a sufficient step forward for a follow up, a 'zombie/CDC quarantine' scenario was one of my faves.

Along with a post-economic disaster Mad Max style devolution of major metro cities to gang-rule and fighting over supplies.

Unfortunately if you look at the news section up in the corner of the Social Club site it seems to explain that it just has to do with tracking the spread of some viral achievement in multiplayer.

Wow, they're actually doing the downloadable content? Finally?

I don't have the game, so I don't really care. I just find it interesting that it took this long. Does anyone still play it?

I have always thought GTA4 would make a great platform for all kinds of games. Zombie Mode, Spiderman mode, Hulk Mode, Ninja Mode, Transformers tie-in... etc.

I played a zombie mod for Vice City. Unfortunately, they made the zombies far too tough, you couldn't just barrel through them with a car, and once they stopped your car with sheer numbers you were fucked. :( With some rebalancing it would've been the BEST THING EVAR
