IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey gets a release date photo

Allow me to go out on a limb here and say that many of you have no idea what IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey actually is. Don't worry -- we aren't here to judge. The game is a combat flight sim set in World War II, which explains the funky name.

As of today, Birds of Prey has been upgraded from having merely a "fall release" to something a bit more specific. On September 15, the game will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 from Gaijin Entertainment, Nintendo DS from another developer, and PlayStation Portable from a third studio.

When Hamza wasn't partying it up at the Russian consulate, he played Birds of Prey for a whole ten minutes; incredibly helpful, I know. Thankfully, he was able to snatch up a video of the game. Take a look!

I wonder how this will compare to the flight combat in BF 1943

I played the IL-2 Sturmovik series. Uber air combat realism but not my thing.

I have some fond memories of IL-2, it's possibly the only game where I liked a straight deathmatch.

Had some fun one time when we were all in prop planes of the early 40's and a mate decides he's going to fly an experimental German jet. He'd fly in, fire a load of bullets (that hit nothing), then we wouldn't see him again for 20 minutes as he turned around.
